!!!Must Read>>>>Front Hubs!!!!!!

You know how we always complain about the locking hubs becoming frozen and we are unable to turn them? People talk about just ditching them and using auto or taking them apart. Well I just found out why. That strip down the middle of the turn handle is a pourous rock and is designed to suck in WD40 or penetrating oil. THIS IS ABSOULUTLY AMAZING!!!! Go try it and watch it suck the fluid in like a sponge, around the edge or rim also. It sucks the fluid in so fast you could put a whole can in one side!!! This same stone sucks in water and salt also!!!!!! It will destroy the inside gears!!!! Every oil change spray it on. I could not turn mine if my life depended on it and this works like a miricle....for freeeeeeeee. Now who else knew this one????? My oil change guy told me.....a friend for life.

Well, if nothing pops up tomorrow, I plan on replacing both hub assemblies. Going to soak those lockouts with PB Blaster too!

Re: !!!Must Read>>>>Front Hubs!!!!!!

I actually think the strip was designed to allow air through it so that the vaccum system can pull the diaphragm in to auto engage the hubs. So, if you want to the maximum amount of lube in their, spray them up real good, throw your ESOF to 4x4 High and let the vaccum system pull the hubs in. When they get pulled in they will draw even more lube into them. Work great.

Re: !!!Must Read>>>>Front Hubs!!!!!!

Okay guys, this one freaked me out Went outside (wearing latex gloves and carring a hand full of paper towels) and soaked 1/4 of a can into each hub. Sucked it right up, until I turned the hub and it spit it right back out. Will hit them again this weekend.

Re: !!!Must Read>>>>Front Hubs!!!!!!

By turning it you must have drawn the diaphram in contact with the knob. This happens when I wash the truck, water always spits out.I put some 3 in 1 oil on the edge and turned it a few times in the fall,it is drawn in by capillary attraction.

Re: !!!Must Read>>>>Front Hubs!!!!!!

If that white strip can't keep H2O out, then wouldnt this cause premature hub failure??? Does anyone know how deep that strip goes doen into the hub? I'm thinking of dremeling it out and using some sort of 2-part epoxy to fill the gap
