It's a 2003 XLT 4x4, with the 7.3 PSD, 3.73 limited-slip, manual hubs, alloy wheels, cloth interior, CD changer, & 81 miles on it. It's white.
He bought it to replace a 3/4-ton Suburban--let's hope it will be as durable, which is a tall order--that 'Burb has been worked HARD since he bought it (new, a 1982 bought in 1981), & has held up very well. Now, it's his son's truck (he's wanted it for 20 years), & my boss has the Ex.
Already done: Econoline "Powerstroke V8" badges on the fenders (done by the dealer), snowplow on order, huge trans cooler (also dealer-installed) & power steering cooler added.
Too bad he got the high-end model--too much power stuff for me.

His Burb was........a tad different from yours. A 1982 K-20 with a 454/TH-400/3.73 gears, spinning 33x12.50R16.5 BFG All-Terrains. It has about 370,000 miles on it. It was the high-end model: A/C, power windows, casette player, I think even the rear heater.

Do not ask me where I read it, I thought the Excursion was not recommended for snow plowing. However, I think a regular memeber here uses his that way. Does anyone remember reading this or just I can not remember anything any more? I do not see any obvious reason why the Excursion would not be able to be used for snow plowing with the proper upgrades. One upgrade that I know would be required is heavier front springs.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that "no plowing" note too... probably in the owner's manual. Of course I left the owner's manual in the truck when I sold it, so I can't go look! Ford may not make heavy enough springs to support the truck, the PSD,and the plow. I remember hearing on the earlier PSDs (eg 1994-1997) that one of the reasons they didn't want people plowing was because snow would come up over the blade in big quantities...right into the air intake. A guy I knew who plows with his 1997 SC puts pantyhose over the intake to solve this problem... hmmmmm...
