My Extended Armrests

Well, it wasn't so hard after all to have the armrests extended to where they should have been. What a throne the front seats are now!

$80 each for the local custom auto upholstery and trim shop to have the stock armrests modified and re-covered to match the interior.

One bolt holds the armrests on. Then the skin is removed and extentions welded to the stock. Then new skins sewn over padding.

Now I have 16 inch armrests.

One thing I learned was that the "all leather" interior really means that the seat back and butt area are the only leather. The remainder is vinyl including seat sides, back and arm rests.

Re: My Extended Armrests

Thats great, now lets widen the seat. I am 6" 200lbs so if these seats are skinny for me I can bet they are for most. The entire third seat is vinyl also. The rest are Leather Faced.

Re: My Extended Armrests

Yup, not many people catch the "leather seating" which is just that. Most cars are the same. Even with Mercedes, the lower end cars, like the C class can be had with what used to be called MB Tex or upgraded to leather seating or even up to all leather.

It's those danged markting people.....

Re: My Extended Armrests

Leather is actually better that way.
On my '95 Mustang it had Full leather. The side bolsters on the seats ended up cracking from ingress/egress after 2nd year.
They will wear much better this way....
Still sucks though....
Great Job on the armrests.. I will now take this off of my LIST of stuff to do!!!!!!
I'll just take them off and take'm in!!!!!
