So the boy and some friends were screwing around Saturday night (against the rules - they were supposed to be sleeping over) when he loses control on a dirt road. Went through a four inch steel pipe (concrete filled) and barbed wired fence, side swiped a tree, and ended up in the middle of a prickly-pear patch. Everybody is okay, shook up pretty good and grounded for life. I actually drove the truck home (after taking down another part of the barbed wire fence to get out of the field). We (one of the other dad's and I) made the boys repair the fence - in the middle of the night. They were very lucky, had they been in anything other than the big truck, or been about two feet to the left, there would have been the need for ambulances. As it is, the truck is torn up pretty good. Mostly body damage, the B pillar is bent pretty good. Drivers side doors (both) are toast. The front end and hood are toast. The cooling stack has been pushed back a bit, but is still fully functional. My front hitch took the brunt of the fence post impact and transferred the force to the frame - basically protecting from more damage, and distributing the forces into the frame. A few very lucky boys. It doesn't look that bad in this picture, but the B pillar is bent and both doors sprung.

Thats a sad sight for sure....how about an 09 front clip now? And they make a cool cowl hood now, its steel with a functioning scoop that is not just stuck on with tape. It does look like sheep metal only and that can be repaired, its frames that really cause a problem. Or.....you can go hog wild and hack the thing up good...it could look like this....

Sorry to hear about the accident, luckily everyone's safe, lol I was just looking at a site called customautosbyjim dot com and they make all kinds of nice excursions, maybe they can fix yours and make it a six door? Just an idea, good luck hope all goes well.
For all the ideas. I'm just gonna have it put back like it was. Yup - its most sheet metal work. It will still be around $8K though - ouch. I just can't afford the new trucks for hauling the horses - their over $50K list (yeah Lariat trim - XLT not that much cheaper). Oh well, at least everybody come through safe, shook-up but safe.
