Need a mirror!

Well on the way to work today I was lucky enough to meet a soccer mom in her new Suburban. Her time was more important than mine, so she rushed across a 1 lane bridge, and clipped my drivers side mirror, breaking the turn signal lens. Oh yeah she just kept going. I tried to turn and catch her but it didn't work. Passing with an X on a tight twisty road is possible but not easy or wise. Anyway I think I need to replace the whole assembly. Anyone have a source that isn't going to rob me. I checked E-Bay but no mirrors with the turn signal. Any help would be great. This is the only problem I have had with this truck, usually it just makes me smile

Re: Need a mirror!

If it's just the forward mirror cover with the lights that is damaged, only that parts needs to be replaced. Last time I bought one (few years ago), the "lighted mirror cover" was about $80. To get the old one off, tilt the mirror glass all the way outboard, shine a flashlight behind it on the inboard side, and you'll see two clips that can be released with a long flatblade screwdriver. Pop the clips, rotate the cover off, and unplug the wiring harness.

Re: Need a mirror!

My wife caught the garage door frame with the R side mirror and broke the cover AND the base mirror assy. The glass, both pieces, were the only survivors. 75.xx for the cover and 191.xx for the mirror assy itself. You need both to make a complete mirror, but it sounds like you need just the cover. http://www.powerstrokeshop.com/

Re: Need a mirror!

I appreciate the information, especially on how to change it out. My heart sank when I realized that a whole mirror was about $200. $80 still stinks for someone elses mistake but it is alot easier to swallow.

This site is a wealth of information, and the people are always willing to help.
