Need part number for "u" code front springs

Does anyone have a Ford part number for f250 4x4 front "u" codes springs??

I checked with the local Ford parts guy and once again I am not getting that warm fuzzy feeling from him. He has a part number for a f250 4x2 but he can not confirm if this is the same part number for a f250 4x4. Sorry rookie question.

I have a 2002 4x4 Excursions and want "u" codes, here is what I have for part numbers so far:

2c3z-5310-ga - u code front springs - Ford f250 4x2

2c3z-5310-ha - v code front springs - Ford f250 4x4

Thanks in adavance!!!

-Mike

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

When inquiring, I've always been told by the dealer to use the code, not the part number because part numbers change pretty often, appearently becasue of changing vendors.

Dosn't the 4x2 front have coil springs? I would get V codes, this will level it.

Mike

Look for a Sig with U codes in it and send them a PM

To bad your dealer does not instil any confidence you will get your correct part

fordparts.com has them for $120 to 130 but the freight would be a killer but then no sales tax so ????

BTW they say "order by code" no part numbers are given

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

My experience is the same as FamilyRide. The dealer told me there is not specific part number for the springs. He said the part numbers vary from supplier to supplier of springs and the supplier will vary by region of country and the time period they were made. I tried getting used springs cross-matched at a spring shop and the Ford dealer confirmed it. The guy called to get his buddy go give him the numbers to find the u-codes in the pile and the Ford guy said 'forget it'.

To order the springs it is simple. You call the dealer, you tell him you need front springs for an F-250 4x4 diesel <<insert your year here>>. You can volunteer that the door jam sticker says 'u code' or you can wait till they ask.

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

Thanks Bruce, looks like I may have to do what you are suggesting.

I went to Ford yesterday and the parts guy only had one type of "u" code listed for a Ford F250 diesel. It appears that it is for a 4x2 and he could not confirm if it was the same part number for a 4x4. I asked if he had a parts specialist that he could call and his responce was that parts are cut and dry and there is not specialist that he can call. Unbelievable!! He did suggest that I find someone with a f250 and ask for the spring code that is located on their driver side door. With this code I could then order the 2002 4x4 F250 Diesel "u" code front springs that I need.

StrokedTwice, I will try the part number you supplied Monday morning. :&gt

Thanks everyone for helping!!!!

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

The code on the door of any 250 or 350 for that matter will be a U if it has U code springs

BTW codes for coils (2x4) are B through L for the 99 and up 250/350 as far as I know, but then what do I know

If your parts guy does not know who to ask for help he is in trouble putting you at risk. Do you have another dealer you can go to??

Us will be good choice for you just stay persistant and you will get there.

Bruce

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

Here is how my call went when I ordered my springs from the local dealer:

me: "I need front leafs for an 01 F-250 PSD. 4x4

ford: "yeah. those will be...(looking up)....a pair of coil springs....

me: huh?

ford: "oh. does that have a live axle?"

me: "yeah".

ford: "oh, you need the leafs then"

me: "yeah"

ford: "um, you need a spring code. do you have the spring code from the door"

me: "u"

ford: "ok. they are in Detroit? at? and they will be here Thursday. 155$ each"

me: "ok.Call me when they are in".

Whatever he was looking at, it wasn't immediately obvious from his microfiche what I needed. It did take a little effort. Well worth the effort I might add. 62k miles since the springs went in and they have not sagging a millimeter. The old D's sank 1/2" in 9k miles.

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

Edex2, thanks for the play by play!!

I think I am ok now with what I need. The Ford describition lists them for a 4x2 and I wanted to make sure of what I purchased before putting them on and later finding out that there were different "u" codes for a 4x4. I am forever a rookie mechanic and always over thinking; thank goodness for this web site!!!

Here we go...what is the term "live axle" mean?

Take care and thanks again!!!!

Re: Need part number for "u" code front springs

live axle = axle that supplies power. ie: PA farmspeak for 4x4.
