So, now I need suggestions on a good tire that will not wear fast. They will only see street driving, but I do like aggressive tread. I have been looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler, Cooper Zeon LTZ, and even the Nitto 420. Some have told me to step up to 305/55/20 because it looks and rides better. So please chime in with experience and let me know what you guys recommend.

I have bought 3 sets of the The Dueler A/T REVO with UNI-T
285-75 16 but before you say "wow three sets" read on
First I am at 220K on two Excursions and still have two of the three sets
First set bought at about 30K for first Excursion
Bought second set for first Excursion for it's final winter.
Sold first 2002 Excursion with First Set of Revo's with about 3/16 or 50% tread left, but for me 60 to 70% used. We get to much hard rain here to run tires down to the wear bars.
Used second set of Revo's as winter tires for second Ex
for two winters and did not put the OE tires back on, a second time, I was tired of sliding around on damp pavement, and sold them to an employee to put on a truck he was selling. So I only used those two summers
Following fall (year and a half ago) bought third set.
They have run two winters and look near new.
(best winter/rain tire I have ever owned)
Just last week took third set off and put second set on.
They may or may not be worn out after this Summer.
They will be still good enough to run but may just sell for a few bucks.
So I likely ran a total of 75 K on two sets of OE tires and 145K on way less than two sets of Revo's
I am Guessing I wil buy another set the fall of 2010 abut may not need to, I am driving a little less only 27K per year.
Seems like I am getting 75k or more out of them.
BTW they are anything but cheap, but they grip well and wear well not always available on the same tire. Only down side is they do make some noise, But there are many others that may be more sutable to a 2WD and your location.
I would check to see if Bridgestone has a tire to that you like.
I see they have a Dualer HP-20"
Do some digging and you will come up with the right tire.
