Needs a lot of brake pedal pressure

I test drove my first PSD X today. Indeed, my first PSD drive period! I now harbor lust in my heart for a PSD. But, with the X I drove, it seemed to take a lot of foot pressure on the brake pedal to stop it. Once stopped, I had to press pretty firmly on the pedal to keep it from going forward. Is this a natural result of all that torque, or is it unusual?

By the way, idle seemd OK - around 650. The X was brand new, only 4 miles on the odo. Maybe the pads were not broken in?

And, tomorrow I go back to test drive the 350! Is life good or what??

Re: Needs a lot of brake pedal pressure

Mine does take some pressure at a stop, but does not while stopping. I is a little stiffer than the Montana I traded but not as bad a a Safarri that had the same hydroboost type system. I really like the brakes on the X. I think that the pump is the weak part of the system, mine is whining and has been for a couple K miles. The superdutys have been having some trouble with the hydroboost; very hard dry steer, loss of steering during emergancy braking. I did experience the latter one time, but it dry steers fine.

Yes! It is hard work keeping all of that rip-snorting monster torque under control. Actually, that's due to the hydroboost system. Pedal effort is somewhat higher than a vacuum boosted system. I've found that when I stop, if I slide my foot up higher on the pedal, I can let the weight of my leg hold the brakes.
