The Limited model looks unchanged to me. The XLT may have a different wheel.

The Ordering guide says the Excursion XLT has standard new chromed steel wheels, optional new polished aluminum wheels with bright center ornament. I haven't seen either, though.

The only differences between the 2000 & 2001 PSD Excursion Ltd's are.....
1) 250HP is now standard
2) Front square fog lights (mounted in between the tow hooks)
3) Standard aero signal mirrors (like the Expedition)
4) In-dash 6 CD radio
5) Power adjustable pedals (late availability)
Also note the reverse sensing system is now standard with all 2001 models.
2001 Excursion XLT's get...
1) new body side cladding (late availability)
2) Polished aluminum wheels with bright center ornament
3) Standard chrome steel wheels with OWL all season tires
4) In-dash 6 CD radio
5) Power adjustable pedals (late availability)
Ford has deleted the Chestnut Clearcoat Metalic & Arizona Beige Clearcoat Metalic exterior colors for the XLT.
Personally, I was really looking forward to the new addition of the fog lights offered on the 2001 models and was hoping for a new front end similar to the Explorer Sport, Lincoln Navigator, or the Desert Excursion at SEMA, etc... While the fog lights on the 2001 Excursions may be very functional (I don't know yet), they look like an afterthought stuck on in my opinion. Maybe it's not all that terrible, but since Ford makes more profit on the Excursion than any other vehicle (from what I've heard), I thought they'd at least give it a better looking and more integrated front end with integrated fog lamps as they currently offer with their less expensive SUV's / trucks.
I went to the dealership last night and saw an f-350 with the new polished aluminum wheels. They are the same style as the old brushed aluminum but they are nice and shiny. They look really good. I like them more than the limited wheels.
The fog lights are only available on the limited. The 6-disc in-dash changer doesn't have a cassette. The aero signal mirrors are only available on the limited.
I've been hearing bad things about the reverse sensing system like you have to turn it off every time you go into reverse if you don't want it on and that it is adversely affected by temperature and rain. What are some of the positive things people here have to say about the reverse sensing system?
