Re: New Diff cover

Looks good. I have two in the garage. I bought one for each truck but have not had time to install them yet. They arrived this week. How much oil did you put in the diff with the new cover? I plan on spraying mine with clear spray paint to seal it from the elements.

Re: New Diff cover

Looks nice. What did you use for bolts? I heard you need longer ones than the ones on the stock cover?

Re: New Diff cover

Just under 3 bottles of Mobil 1 75W 140 FS plus 8 oz friction modifier. Been told by some that may be too much of the modifier. Anyway fluid just below fill plug. No metal shavings on magnet.

Bolts stainless hex head 5/16 18, 1 1/4 inch long. Used stainless lock washer. Blue locktite to 20 ft.lbs

I used clear wheel sealer on cover prior to install.

Part 8C3Z-4033-AA, List was $50, dealer sold to me for $36. Fluid will cost you more than cover.

I think this may be the Engineering# not the part#. Part #'s are not stamped into the part. Why? I have no idea.

Re: New Diff cover

I called my parts guy and gave him that number. He ordered it and had to play a few games to get one, but mine is here and going on tomorrow. It is the number on the box..
