New Excursion - Wifes

Just bought the wife a New 2005 Diesel Excusion...This is a big change for her as she went from a Toyota Highlander to an Excursion...I think she can do it though...Althoug a few pedestrians may get that ole run down feeling in the process. haha Considering all the kids she take to sports practice I think it is a fitting vehicle. Safe too!

Re: New Excursion - Wifes

Congrats! She's going to love it! My wife loves to drive my truck but would never want one for her own. I tried to convince her into an X several times, but no go. She hates the diesel pumps!

Shortly my wife will start driving our X full time. She also isn't a huge fan of diesel pumps, so, I am planning on filling it for her! With the 44 gallon tank, at MOST I shouldn't have to fill it for her more than once a week, but realistically it will be 2-3 weeks. This will give me a chance to check it over and give it a road test to keep up on the maintenance items. Tire pressure, fluid levels, washer fluid, aire cleaner, etc... Additionally, it will when me some brownie points, and we can use more of those!

Re: New Excursion - Wifes

Indeed congrats to you and the wife for the addition of the Excursion to the family I'm sure ya'll will enjoy it for a long time

My wife is the primary driver of our X which she very happily upgraded from a 99.5 F250 7.3L 4x4 a few years back

She loves Diesel trucks,if she could have a DT466 dropped in the Excursion engine bay she'd never let me near it

Take care and post up anytime

Congrats on the purchase!!!

My wife went from the 95 5.8 litre Bronco 4x4 to the Excursion as her daily driver and she loves it.

Re: New Excursion - Wifes

Congrats! My wife went from a Ford Taurus to an Excursion back in 2000. It was a close race between a Windstar or an Excursion...thankfully the Excursion won out. My wife was used to driving small cars (before the Taurus her only car was a Reliant K for about 10 years). Within 1 month of buying the Excursion, she said "I am SOOOOO glad we got the Excursion and not the minivan!"

You definitely don't want her to be pumping diesel if she doesn't like the pumps...you don't want her to accidentally put gas in! You should be able to get about 600 - 650 miles between fillups. For us, that's about one fill-up every 3 weeks.

Give her about 8 weeks to get over the diesel engine noise, although those 6.0L are much more quiet. She'll love it. If not, TAKE IT YOURSELF!

Re: New Excursion - Wifes

I bought my wife a Lexus rx300 at the same time I bought the excursion just to keep her hands off of it. Bad move. The excursion is currently down for head gasket repairs (porting and polishing) and guess who has to drive that stinking Lexus...

Believe it or not, the Excursion has become a chicks' vehicle, Just ask my wife. I get to use it once in a while, she uses it all the time. If you look who's driving the next time you see one I'll bet it's a woman, probably 80% of the time.

That's scary

If thats the case then most of the women driven Excursions with a ton of brake dust on the front wheels are most likely their daily beaters (well at least here in DFW)

I know my wife doesn't let her Excursion get that bad

[/ QUOTE ] The way my wife drives there would be fire coming out of the wheels on the X.LOL
She has never really driven the X except in a camp ground or two to go to the camp store or pool. I just keep telling her the thing is like driving the Queen Mary on the road and you will not like it, we know this is not true. So far she has believed me and I hope it will continue for a long long time. If she ever drives it any distance I can only hope she will give it back in the condition she received it in.
