New Ford Ads For Excursion

I was watching the NASCAR race yesterday and I saw two Ford ads which showed and mentioned the Excursion. I think it has been 4 years or so since I saw the last one. What is up with Ford? You think they figured out that ads help?

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

The 24 kicked butt did't he ! I have never figured out why Ford will have a commercial talking about the line of Ford SUV'S and never mention a word about the X. Last time I knew it was part of that line. Some think they are staying below the radar due to the pressure the tree huggers are putting out toward the car manufactors. The perception is still that the X gets less than 10 mpg and Ford does nothing to change that perception. Go Figure.

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

yep, I guess it back fired on them. Maybe they could lie and say "the most enviromentaly friendly SUV on the planet and even operates on reclaimed french fry oil". Ads are based on perception so maybe it could work. What do you think ? NOT!

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

I always laugh at the guys at work complaining about the lousy mileage their compact trucks get. The X can beat many of them that have the "BIG" 4.0L V6 engines. I'm not talking sticker mileage but actual. Ford has been way too wimpy about what they have to offer. They also aren't pushing the envelope with the diesel technology available to them in many of their other vehicle lines. It looks like the imports are going to have to show them again! It angers me to watch American companies squander what cards they do have to play. They just cover their heads and take their beatings. There are a lot of great things going on in these companies and they scared to death to put them out there. Oops, I know , relax! It's just that they should let the customers see what they have and see what pressure can be brought on our legislative bodies. Every truck on the market could be getting 20+ mpg with a diesel engine. They can do way better than that with cars. If they were able to do 45+ mpg. in '85 with a Mercury Topaz, what would be possible now? It's just a little frustrating to go across the pond and then come back to the automotive mess we have here. I agree that most of the EU cars are way too small but, the diesel technology used is available for decent sized vehicles as well. I don't want to drive three cars just to go on vacation either. Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

You know you're right. I don't pay much attention but recently my wife said she'd changed her mind and wanted to order a new M Class MB instead of a CLK. SO I decided to go take a look.

Burning premium gas at close to $2 a gallon, it's "rated" to get 15 and 18 MPG!!!

UPS just dropped off my order of Zaino (and my hood blanket! ) so maybe I can make her want to keep her Volvo a little longer if I can make the paint look like melting Silver you could walk into!!

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

BMW is bringing the 3 series diesels here next year. I rented a 330d while in Germany, it has tons of torque and was a blast to drive. We traveled at over 200kph for long distances, and I even drove it on the Nurburgring. It did a best tank of 46mpg, worse of 25 (that was on the track - we did 15 14.5 mile laps). No smell, no clatter. We are way behind Europe in diesel technology, vehicle safety, and driver education in the US. I bet more than 3/4 of the junk on our roads would not pass the annual TUV inspection. OOPS! Did not mean to vent, please don't get me started on the number of cars running cheap or bald tires, or with worn out wiper inserts.

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

Diesel really is the most "green friendly" fuel out there on all counts. Oh, I know they're working on fuel cells, but when they put a fuel cell in a TEREX, then come talk to me. Boys, we are driving the last great truck to be built. They are the next collectable. I wouldn't mind getting a couple more over the next 3-4 years and just keeping them.

Not to mention cars without mufflers and tail pipes. And I am not talking about a 'straight pipe', I am talking about the '85 dodge caravan or geo metro with no exhaust past the exhaust manifold.

Re: New Ford Ads For Excursion

My tree-hugger brother thinks they get 12 mpg........things are looking up
I told him some people get mid-20s with the 6 Liter diesel. Of course I was talking about the 6-speed truck
He actually thinks that if we use less gas the price of gas will go down........
