New MBRP Exhaust for my X

Last week I delivered my X to MBRP for them to install a new 4" Turbo back exhaust. MBRP was looking for someone to let them install the new system to make sure clearances and hangers were setup correctly. I got a sweet exhaust out of the deal.

The turbo down pipe and muffler are the same MBRP makes for the Super Duty. They had to create a new tailpiece to fit. My first impressions are the sound is great, the fit and finish is solid with no rub points that I could see as we checked it out. Plenty of clearance everywhere, well at least everythere there is plenty of clearance to be had in the X! The sound is awesome, some thump but not too loud. In fact, my wife made no mention of the change in the sound, a very pleasant surprise!

I noticed improved response and mileage on the 360 mile return trip and will be tracking that over the next few months to see if it holds up. Most likely I wont be towing until next Spring, but will post my impressions when I do. I will also post pictures when I get the chance.

MBRP says they should be available for sale in the next couple of weeks so now we have another choice in Excursion exhaust. They were planning a test install on a 6.0l this week also.

Thanks to Eric and all the folks at MBRP. To bad I couldn't stay longer as they are in a great area in Northern Ontario. It started snowing the day I had to leave.

Re: New MBRP Exhaust for my X

So you're the luck dog that got to do that??? Man I'd love to hear it!! I got Magnaflow because the were the only game in town for '04 Excursions and I had to have the CAT cut and welded into place.

If you get a chance to make any sound clips I'd love to hear it. I hear the MBPP (DPPI) has a better sound that Magnaflow.

Re: New MBRP Exhaust for my X

Congrats on being the lucky one who could go. I was supposed to go, but I couldn't get off work long enough to make the trip up there. Guess I'll be shelling out money for my exhaust like everyone else now.
