New Member Mod's

Hello All,

I'm new to posting on this board. Been lurking since Dec. 2000. bought my PS Ex Jan, 2001, (4X2, 2000, XLT but loaded, leftover, got it for 32,500, I think a pretty good price these days?).

thanks to you folks, I learned about/did the following mods so far:

1. BD Power chip, WOW....70hp...
2. Helwig rear antisway, Bilsteins all around.
3. Muth trailering "chevron" inserts for the mirrosr. Neat...
4. Ordered Western Diesel Ram-air, waiting for it.
5. I'm running Stanadyne additive.
6. GTS front deflector installed, today mud flaps (ford) and rear air deflector (the cheaper black ford one) go on.
7. PS diesel V8 badges both sides and rear.
8. Added Audivox swing/down TV and video.
9. 24" wipers, these fit fine.

I'm a corporate attorney, largest client is a medium-sized trucking firm here in NW Indiana. Own a boat with 2 Detroit 6V92's in it, that's what got me going on the diesel idea,

I LOVE THIS BEAST!!!

We leave for FL Thursday morning, driving straght thru to Ft. Lauderdale. Looking forward to the drive with wife and 2 kids for the first time..

After 2500 miles, getting 18mpg mixed, 20mpg highway, calculated.

Q? Will I have trouble buying diesel on the road in southern states, due to filler neck restriction? (IN has separate pumps at all truck stops due to higher tax on private veh's, will other states have this with smaller fillers?

Thanks to all, your advice has been GREAT!!

Tom - A warm WELCOME to the site.

Sounds like you've got a great truck there.

I haven't had difficulty with the filler neck size. Seems the members that have cut out their filler necks did so to take advantage of the faster fill time at the truck pumps - not necessarily because they weren't able to fill.

Best to y'all

Thanks, Utah.

I forgot to mention one other mod I've done, PIIA headlight bulbs $70.00 or so (normal wattage). These are great!! Tried some JC whitney $8.00 80/100 watters, they really stank...you do get what you pay for.

Re: New Member Mod's

You will have no problems finding diesel in the Southern states. I have made the trip from NC to Florida many times. Fill up off of I-95 at the truck stops, Flyin J, Williams etc. The cheapest diesel is in Georgia. Just filled up last week for $1.18. South Carolina was 1.23. Watch your speed through SC, especially in the work zones. As I said earlier I have made the trip many times but this time I came across about 10 times as many cops. Have fun in Florida we will be there in late April or early May to pick up a boat. At the truck stops you can use the truck lane to fill up just use the lane closest to the building as they have the smaller nozzles. Flyin J's have a diesel island just for us (smaller diesel's) and is seperate from the other pumps.

Re: New Member Mod's

Thomed welcome and enjoy the forum as most of us do. Look around in some of the other boards and get into the fray .

I have never had any problems finding fuel in my travels. I have been driving diesel pickup since 1980. That really worried me at first, but I started looking when I started getting below a 1\2 tank if going through sparsly populated areas. If possible get fuel at places that have high traffic, less chance of getting water that way. I got some once and it is a PITA. Would you believe that was close to home.

You are going to really love that behemoth the way you have it setup!!!

Thomed,

Welcome to the forum fellow Hoosier.

How do you like the PIIA headlight bulbs ? Do they give off the blue tint ?

Thanks,

Terry
