new mirrors/headlights

Hey

I am looking at purchasing a used X 2001 vintage. Two issues
It has the standard mirrors, not the extending tow mirrors, which I had and have on my Superduties and love. It also has the old style lights which I know I not anywhere as good as the 2002 and up Jewel/clear style headlamps.

So can the mirrors be easily replaced with the tow style?

Can the lights be replaced with the 02+ style

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Why YES they can. I just did it. I was pretty easy for both.

Re: new mirrors/headlights

I have monitored many posts about the 2002up jewel headlights on the SuperDutys and Excursions. I do not remember one, that said they actually gave better illumination than the earlier lights.

Most are doing it for appearance.

As to your tow mirrors, there are many topics about that (do some searching in this forum and in the Super Duty mods), but keep in mind that you probably will want heated mirrors, and you might want the 2003 up style with running lights and turn signals as well, and at least the 2002 style that fold forward. All mirrors used on Excursions have power adjustable main glass.

I have tried converting my 2000 mirrors into fold forward style by getting close to a garage door opening and then backing up, but it did not turn out like I had hoped

NONE OF YOU OLD DOGS BETTER ASK FOR pics EITHER

Re: new mirrors/headlights

I really like the look of the new TT mirrors with the lights in them. That being said, my Dad just bought a 2003 F250 with these mirrors and I could not wait to drive it and see how cool these mirrors actually were. Well I guess I am just stupid but I assumed... (there is that word) that you could see the running lights on them at night (no) or the signals flash on a turn (no again!). In fact I could not tell them from standard nonlit TT mirrors. I still think they look cool but I wish they had more interior visual appeal.
