New thread for this ridiculousness - Remote starting "the story"

Ok,

Previously posted about the $229 for the remote part and $345 for labor -- I gave them my X (with a whole 74 miles on it) friday morning. I call friday afternoon - Sir, we haven't got that quite done yet and we will need tomorrow (they work til 4 on saturday). They call me a little while ago - Sir, we didn't get the instructions with the part - ford faxed me the instructions but three pages were missing. When we finally got the instructions we realized 4 pieces were missing from the kit. We hope to have it to you monday afternoon! Then I get a crappy used up saturn with no gas in it as a loaner. Lovely.....

We'll see what happens monday afternoon....I have a bad feeling I am going to be telling people I loved my X for the day I had it......

Re: New thread for this ridiculousness - Remote starting "the story"

STMPDUST,

Any possibility I can get some info on the alrm install from your brother?

I am having trouble finding the proper ignition on wire and the proper signal for the door ajar. The dome light isn't quite right as it is not directly attached to the door open signals.

Thanks
Jim

Re: New thread for this ridiculousness - Remote starting "the story"

Hmmmm. That's why I did it my-self.

When the electrical guy at the dealer who I trust (with factory wiring) and have known for over 10 years said he had only ever done one and rather indicated he did not wnat to do any more I said thanks for the info!

My other choices were the kid at Circuit City or some stereo shop I knew nothing about. $95.00 for a basic remote start and alarm on ebay and and a couple of afternoons labor sounded good.
