new tire size

I have a 2000 Ex. PSD. I thought it looked big and tough until a recent trip to Utah. If you can beleive it I felt small compared to all the Exs and F250 & F350s. Almost everyone had bigger tires, lift kits etc. I really don't want to put a lift kit on my Ex but would really love to have bigger tires. Three different tire stores give me three different answers. Does anyone know what is the biggest tire I can put on before needing to install a lift? Also I would like to stay in 16 inch rims

Re: new tire size

I know how you feel.I hate OEM size tires on my trucks except my ZR2 4x4 S-10 pickup which came with BFG AT 31/10.50-15 tires.I plan on getting the BFG AT KO's on my Excursion but I might stick with the 265 75-16 size since I can keep the OEM spare and not re-program the computer. I have seen posts of some putting the 315 75-16 BFG AT KO's on stock 7" wide OEM wheels but the 305-70-16 Goodyear is the largest size I have seen in photos.
If you want to stick with 16" dia wheel but go to a wider width (8-10")you might want to put F-550 springs up front for tires over 33" dia.
