New tires on Ford

Got my Firestones replaced last week by the Ford dealership.

I went in to get a replacment remote entry unit. The new one has a beefed up loop to go on the key ring. The old one broke off.

The service manager (whom I go to church with) ask me if I was enjoying the X. I told him everything except the tires. I described how when I hooked up the 31' Prowler Camper the back end would sway a little bit. He said that he could replace the tires. He replaced the old Firestones with new Michelin Grade E tires.

They pull much better.

He said that Ford has told them that if anyone is uncomfortable with the tires to replace them.

Love that X!!!!

Re: New tires on Ford

Don't be yanking my chain! If Ford is giving away Michelins...I'm calling them tomorrow! However, I am sure the crooks at the Ford Dealership I bought my X from wouldn't swap them (see my posting on "Dealers Tricks" to here the BS they tried to pull on me).

I would assume I could take this in to a different dealership, right? Just say, "Hey man, these tires BLOW (no pun intended)...and I want a new pair!"

I'm calling tomorrow. I'll post my results.

Tailgate,
Let me know where you go if you get new tires. I live in the Houston area too.

Re: New tires on Ford

Yeah, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I was so excited to get my 2000 X PSD for just above invoice and 0.9% financing for 5 years that I didn't notice the $250 Fee my dealer nailed me with until I got home (just like Tailgate's #4). I deserve new Michelins.

Re: New tires on Ford

So far, no word. A friend of mine knows the owner of a dealership, and they've been out of town. Now HE has gone out of town for the entire holiday season! AAAARRRGGGHHH!

I guess I should just be bold and call a dealership and ask them. I just hate sounding like a dunce.

Sorry about that $250...but that was a cheap lesson. Definitely the least expensive of all the @#$#$% tricks they tried to pull on me. I don't know how people like that (i.e. car dealers) can sleep at night......

Re: New tires on Ford

I am good friends with the General Manager of World Ford and asked him about changing the tires. He wasn't aware about any recall or direction from Ford, but he is looking into for me.

I'll keep you posted on the results.

Re: New tires on Ford

FireTruck,
When I bought my 2001 Excursion from World Ford in Miami, it was actually one intended for the Pembroke Pines store. I told them I would not take the vehicle with the Firestones, so they gave me an additional $400.00 credit on the deal, and told me to keep the Firestones. I immediately sold them and bought new 305/70/16 Goodyears.
If you push them, they might cut you some slack.
Is the manager a big guy named John?
