New "X" has arrived

Well finally got my call that the new Excursion arrived at the dealer late last night. That would make it 4 weeks and 1 day from order to delivery using a priority 10 order code.

Going down to the dealer during lunch to give it an initial inspection.

Wish me luck...

David

David, Enjoy! Had ours for 3 years and still love it.

Let us know what "enhanced after market entertainment system", you use. I have been trying to decide what to put in my Wifes Ex. since we are keeping it a while and after all it is the Family Truckster.

Have fun. (Try not to drive with too large as much, people think you are up to something.

Re: New "X" has arrived

All

Thanks for the nice comments.

I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to take a trip down to the dealer over lunch to give the new toy a full inspection.

It looked really good with no visible transport damage. Nothing had been prepped but it had that nice new car smell.

As expected there was no hood insulator. I'm having one installed before delivery.

I expect to take delivery tomorrow night after work.

Regards;

David

Re: New "X" has arrived

Hey David, I'm picking up my new Ex tomorrow night too

Mine doesn't have the hood insulation either. Were you able to get the dealer to install it free, or are they charging you for it?

We're getting a similar one, 04 Ex, 4x4, Eddie Bauer, 3.73, skid plates, chrome running boards, DVD, 6-disk changer, heated seats, cargo package, etc. Wifey wanted this one loaded, so I think we got just about every option available. Our build date is 1/26/04 I think. It arrived about a week ago at the dealership and I haven't yet gotten down to do the paperwork. Sigh.

Happy Ex'ing.

Re: New "X" has arrived

When we were picking up our Excursion it was easy to sweet talk the manager into a Debug-shield

I was going to ask to throw in a set of the Smittybilt nerf stepbars like they did with our 99.5 F250 but the Excursion already comes with the stock lit up running boards which I come to find out worked out better for us.

I'm sure you can get your salesman to throw in the underhood insulation as part of the deal and if that doesn't work see like the manager.
If they don't have one in stock you may have to come back with the due bill order as we had done with both trucks.

Re: New "X" has arrived

Believe me when I say I tried to get them to install the hood blanket for free. I went up to the sales manager during the attempt.

The best they would do is install the part at cost. They didn't charge me any labor to install it.

They gave me what I consider to be a good purchase price on the truck at 500.00 below dealer invoice. I'm taking all the rebates and have financed thru a third party.

That may be part of the reason they didn't want to give any more discounts on a part Ford decided to omit.

The last hurdle will be the trade in. I have a 96 "Texas" Dodge Grand Caravan ES that is in mint condition with only 38000 miles. They are currently only offering 4000-5000 trade in. If thats all the higher they will go I'll probably end up selling it myself.

We should know more tomorrow. My wife is taking the van in to let the used car manager have a 2nd chance at it.

Have a good one.

David
