New X owner and i'm STOKED..

Sup everyone. I been saving for 2 years and the day has finally come. I bought a 2000 X 7.3 diesel with 6 inch lift from Lone Star Imports in texas. 75'000 miles. I can't wait for it to get here..

I been reading the forums. I don't even have my X yet and i bought a freakin CPS, hahaha..

Since it has 37 inch tires i would like to be able to get some more horsepower out of that 7.3 and was wondering best way to go about that with a budget of about $1200.00. What are your thoughts on the Banks 6 gun power chip? I'm probly going with that. It already has a 4 inch exhaust. Any suggestions?

I'm probly going to change the swampers out for 37 all terrains because i like to travel.

Here's some pics. Any advice as a new X owner is appreciated.

Thanks guys

Re: New X owner and i'm STOKED..

Cool truck!

I don't think horsepower is a problem. What needs to be checked first is the axle ratio. If it has the stock gearing with those 37's it will seem slow.

With 37's you may need as much as 4.88 or numerically higher gears to make up for the loss with tire size. It'll take a little more than $1200 to do both diff's.

There is no need to get more HP until you know the gears have been changed.

Gear ratio is easy to check. Put the truck on a lift. Put a chalk mark on the side wall of the tire and one on the driveshaft. As you rotate the tire count how many revolutions the drive shaft turns. 3 and 3/4 turns of shaft to 1 tire = 3.73, 4 turns and small change = 4.10, 4 and 1/2 turns = 4.56 and so on. It'll get you close.

The truck appears to have all the right stuff so my point may be moot but it needs to be checked before anything else.

And I'll be watching for those HP suggestions as well!!!

Enjoy your new ride!!!!!!

Re: New X owner and i'm STOKED..

Welcome and congrat's on the Ex.!

Banks is great stuff but for the 7.3 you could easily save money and bet more power. BTW, the Banks 6 Gun is for the 6.0. Check out Banks 7.3 stuff.

Also check out the 7.3 Aftermarket forum for power ideas.

I called banks and they said they will be shipping out 6 guns for 7.3 diesels.

I'm very glad to hear that. It looked like nothing was missed but sometimes gears get left out of the equation.....and since you can't see them.........

Ok, so off we go to the 7.3 performance forum! Also, I found if you click on the "links" near the top of the page, there are many suppliers listed for most any need.

Don't forget to let us know what you did and how well it works for you! Congrats again.

Swamps, ya can find tons of info in the 7.3 fourms or call them at 866-595-8724.

Why don't I like Banks, lets see, way overpriced mainly not that some of there stuff is not well main its just way overpriced. Also they have be known to tell us we don't need something and then when they find out there looseing money they jump bigtime on the bandwagon. The vast majority of inovative ideas have not come from Banks.IMHO. I think I am gona get my flame suit on now .

That is funny... Last time I checked the Superduty lines were in Kentucky and Mexico. Did they move to TX recently ? Course much of TX could be considered Mexico so there we go!

Rumor has it that my 'X will arrive this week. I'm somewhat STOKED. I'll be really STOKED when I receive some firm confirmation that it has arrived at the dealer.

Since we moved here couple years back we never seen so many Excursions/Superduties on the road well except for the Phoenix area which comes in at a close tie

Got a call from the dealer. My 'X has arrived at the dealer. OK NOW I'M STOKED! .

They might not have it ready for a couple days. ... now the question is: Is there anything that I can examine or test drive or somesuch before I sign that might give an indication as to whether it's a good truck or not?
