The "New" X photos are up!!!

I have spent some quality time with the X over the last week or so. I have new Bilstien shocks all around. 6245s in the front, 6209s in the rear, new sway bar bushings, new RS 2000 steering stabilizer in front. New Cooper ATR 315/70/17s on American Racing 8.5 X 17 chrome aluminium rims. This is year 3 for the X and it was time to change the look. I kept the factory rims for the winter. This is a new truck now, it rides better than new and sits another 1.5"s over the 3" lift on it now. Now I really look down on everyone. I get next to a Tahoe and it looks like a passenger car . It still fits in the garage with 3 inchs to spare....hmmmmm looks like I need more lift. No this is enough. Thanks to all for the help in putting this truck together. This site was the driving force behind this transformation and I searched all the threads to find what I was looking for. I used to look at everyones signature for what they have and wondered if I would ever catch up. It took time but I am getting there. The best part is I did all this work myself in the garage with the tires on and on the ground.

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

I used the F350 spring and a 1.5" add a leaf. The rear is a 4" block. These rims do not stick out the side and are not too fancy that they are hard to clean or loose strenght. I mounted the XM radio in the small blank square next to the power point 12v. It fits great, you can still open the ashtray (for change) and still get to the power point. I can reach it easy but use the remote and the steering wheel and never have to lift a hand. I wish I could post pictures here, I could show the amps, the subs and all. It really rocks out. I feel like I am done now, maybe some sort of tasteful graphic on the side next year. I guess I could start on the engine also, I have a power module but could always use gages,BB turbo, injectors, intake, bigger chip................

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

Thanks, I would like to get the exhaust but am affraid of the drone in the cabin. Does the BTM keep it quiet in the cab? I love the XM radio, I drive 7 hours North almost every weekend and I can keep it on the same channel the whole way....66 RAW That and top 20 on 20, KISS, and the uncut comedy is a riot. Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

The truck looks very sharp. I too have a mineral gray 4x4 limited (2004). Yours has the look I am loking for; I already have 16 x 10 wheels with 295 BFG AT (new yesterday) and deff. need a lift of some type..I am torn brtween the DR 3 inch (shakle drop) or f350 spring and blocks.

Am I the only one on here with a JL stealthbox?? If you get a chance to hear them they sound very loud...bass up front is totally different than any bigger sub in the back.

Anywho, thanks for sharing your imporvements..real does look sharp!

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

I am happy with the F350/1.5 add a leaf. In the rear I hace chevy 4" blocks with air bags. I am a little rear high (1/2") and that is what I like. I got a full 3"s from the lift, paid $99 for the add a leaf, got the V codes for free from take offs and had the 4" block from a past lift. I did all the work myself so I have about $200 which includes new U bolts. The schakle lift is also pretty good but I was affraid a full 3"s would be a strain on such a long shackle, sise to side loads were my concern. The new shocks really pull the whole thing together. The ride is very good and better than stock. I have the JL stealth box also but it has 2 10" subs in the rear. It was from my Dodge Ram and went under the rear seat. It is the same color carpet as my X and fits side to side like it was meant there. I have 2 kicker 300 amps, one drives the speakers, which are all JL now and one drives the subs. I kept the head unit so I could still use the factory DVD but I would like to get my JVC head unit back in, it is a much better system, I am sure I can figure out the DVD. The amps are under the middle seat, you can't even see the sub box as it blends right in.

MItch,

I have Magnaflow turbo back with the cat welded back in place. No drone at all. It's very quiet inside at all speeds.

I weighed the complete exhaust system and BTM options and chose the BTM for the least amount of noise produced within the truck cabin based on owner feedback.

When I compare the BTM versus the stock muffler the BTM is more quiet but has real performance results.

For XM gimme Bone Yard,Top Tracks and Studio 62 for the cruisin'

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

Great looking X! I will probably look at upgrading my front springs to v's and adding the 4" blocks in the rear as well. Where did you get your add a leafs? Do I really need add a leafs. I thought many people had just put in v-codes and 4" block s and they were pretty level?? Just curious as yours looks sharp! I'm almost done with performance mods after a tranny improvement mod and I will be moving back to suspension. Man, boating season is almost here

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

My add-a-leaf is a Tuff Country smooth ride. You would need the X code to be level with a 4" block. The Vs will level you with the stock block. I have had no problems in one year and 35K. I think the BTM is next. Thanks CHP. My stealth box was $600 with 2 10" JL subs. The crossover is in the amp. I hear you on boating but today they said a barrel of oil could go to $105.00!!!!!!!!! thats $50 over todays price, that means 3.50 a gallon!!!!!!!!! We are screwed at that point. I will move to a year round warm state and buy a street bike. Save the Exxon Valdese for the weekends.

Re: The "New" X photos are up!!!

I think it was right at $500 new...I really couldnt see giving up space for a big box and amps..so a stealhbox in the center is the way to go..I bought it at my local stereo shop that is a authorized dealer of JL...bass up front really does sound better IMO..and I have had everything from 2 JL 15's to 2 12's and even 4 8's.

I need to post pics of the amp one day too..it is where the spare tire used to be...those of us with dual capt chairs have limited space for goodies.
