Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

there is no way in hell a v10 is going to get 13-17 mpg in that unit. No Way, No How. Looks like a hummer imitation to me, with a diesel powerplant, as the hummber should have

Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

I was going to say the same thing (13/17 mpg) but some owners of V10 Excursions were claiming the same mpg last year.

Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

"there is no way in hell a v10 is going to get 13-17 mpg in that unit."

According to the Avanti web site it has a 6.8L Supercharged V8 not V10:

http://www.zipp.com.mx/avanti/studeb...ifications.htm

The article says V10. One of the listing is wrong (either the manufacture or the Reuters article who knows). It also states the curb weight is 5900 pounds which is most likely 1300 pounds lighter than a 4WD X with a V10 (curb weight 7,200 pounds according to carpoint.com):

http://autos.msn.com/vip/specificati...68&src=vip

Who knows maybe 13-17 is possible? At any rate I am sure a 6.0L PSD in this 5900 pound rig would have a lot of power and get really good mileage...for an SUV.

Reuters, 02.14.03, 5:28 PM ET

DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. filed a lawsuit against independent carmaker Avanti Motor Corp. Friday aimed at preventing it from building a "knock-off" of GM's popular Hummer H2 sport utility vehicle.

Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

The 13/17 mpg rating is for the 6.0L PSD.

Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

Checking out the Hummers web site they list the Hummer H1 with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel, the H2 has a 6.0L V8 Gas engine, and this beast has a 6.0L PSD. Tough choice huh?...Not!...

That is why GM is all bent out of shape. If Ford drops the Excursion this will be the most powerfull SUV with the 6.0L PSD.Even with only 1000 units a year it takes the wind out of the sales of the Hummer H2 marketing department.

Re: New XUV with Ford PSD !!!

Not really... it's the "Hummer" brand name that is selling trucks. Why do you think GM snatched up the rights to the name?

The XUV is Russian or you referring to another vehicle?
