NO '04 EXCURSIONS-GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN!!!

I have heard and been told by 6 different dealers that there will be no '04 X and no replacement. I bumped up my original plans and will order my '03 ASAP. The order bank closes in 3 weeks or so and after that it's whatever is left. Any confirmation would greatly be appreciated as I can't take a chance.

I find that hard to believe. Unless Ford is telling their dealers something else in private.

Here's what they are saying in public:

Perhaps Bobby or Cochise would like to weigh in on this one again?

Re: NO '04 EXCURSIONS-GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN!!!

There have been several reports of dealers who have been saying no '04 X. Here is why:

1. They want you to buy something NOW. They have '03's, but not 04's.

2. They are stupid and can't find their butts with both hands.

3. They are the laziest animals on the planet except for my cat.

4. They lie. That is how car salesman make their money. They lie.

Read this link when you have time. It's a riot:

http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying...2/article.html

For those of you who are offended, I have been hanging out at car lots since I was about 5 years old. My dad used to drag me around with him (I was the only one who would go). I am now 45, so I have about 40 years of experience with car salesman. I just did a count, I have also personally purchased 30 used cars and 26 new cars since 1974. Yes, I average about 2 per year. I have also helped friends and family purchase another couple dozen or so cars.

Let's just say that I have dealt with 100s if not 1000s of car salesman over the years, in a dozen states. The Edmunds article is right on target, based on my experience. I have met some good ones, but they are few and far between. I ALWAYS assume that they are going to lie through the nose and never believe anything that they say.

I once heard that car salesman can be grouped into 1/3's

1/3 are career salesman
1/3 are brand new
1/3 are quitting

So you have a 2 in 3 shot at getting a newbie who doesn't know where the bathroom is or someone who is fed up, couldn't give a damn and is quitting.

The order banks on '04 X's opens May 16, and JOB1 is in early July. If your dealer is saying something different, I'd talk to Bobby or Cochise and see what they can do for you.

Re: NO '04 EXCURSIONS-GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN!!!

Soon you will have to buy a Studebaker to get a SUV with the 6.0L PSD.
"The 2004 Avanti Studebaker XUV measures 80 inches wide, 79.6 inches tall and 215.5 inches long, with a 134-inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 5,900 lbs. It will be offered with either a 325-horsepower, 6.0-liter turbo-diesel V8 or a 310-hp, 6.8-liter V10. The V10 may be equipped with an optional supercharger, which raises the engine rating to 425 hp. A five-speed automatic transmission will be offered with both engines. The Studebaker's use of the Ford F-250 platform will enable the vehicle to be serviced by an established dealer network"

Re: NO '04 EXCURSIONS-GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN!!!

I got the same BS 03 Excursion story when I talked to my local dealer. With them, it was a case of just plain not knowing the facts.

There will be 04 Excursions. The only date I haven't gotten confirmed is the last possible order date.
