Not Many New X Owners Out There

Surfing around local Ford dealer websites. Most dealers only have 3 or 4 X's in stock, even the big dealers.

KTP is only making ~400/week.

Gas prices, I guess. Wouldn't hurt is Ford actually admitted to the public once in a while that it makes the X.

Heaven forbid Ford actually asks someone to buy one.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

When I bought mine in January, I had a hard time finding any '04's in stock. There were a few odd ball '03's here and thee, but very few dealers were actually stocking '04's. That's how I ended up buying mine from a dealer I hadn't considered buying from, and now that I have bought from them, I know why I didn't consider them. (hint - they kind of suck)

I planned on ordering one from a guy at Bill Utter. They had a demo Pueblo Gold 2 WD in satrock and that was it, and that had been it for quite some time. I noticed yesterday that they finally had another on in stock!! It's then first they've had on the lot that wasn't a demo for 6 months or more I think.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

Most dealers don't like to to stock what they don't sell a lot of. The major reseon is it takes a lot of capitol (either through dealer floor plans loans or cash) which it tied up for long periods of time. The dealers want to turn over inventory as quickly as possible. It's better for them to get you to order one or do a dealer trade.

My dealer has not sticked and X some 2001. They got mine on a dealer trade for me.

I've been seeing a lot more X's lately at least around here (Chicago metro) so maybe we'll see more newbie's aound the site.

My .02.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

When I got mine, there was only one in the whole state of Florida. My dealer did a dealer transfer too. It was teh first X the dealer had sold.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

I just did a search for all the dealers within sixty miles of New Orleans and there are fourteen 6.0L X's shown as being in stock and seven or eight gasers .

I know from prior experience that not all vehicles "a particular model" show up on an Internet search through Fords web site so there are probably more in stock at the six or seven dealers I searched.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

1 of the biggest dealers in the Bay Area has only 1 in stock. When I bought last year there was probably 10 in stock.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

Just got my 03 X last Saturday. 1st diesel for me. Love it! Will test tow my 23' travel trailer when I get the brake controller installed. Looking forward to not having to stop for fuel nearly as often as before, (00 GMC Yukon 4x4 could only go ~150 to 200 miles towing - problem in CA with distance between some towns).

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

I had to custom order mine. I've also had to wait. I ordered a 6.0 EB 'X in the middle of April and I'm told it will be built on the 28th of May (meaning the earliest I could get my hands on it would be the middle of June). I'm only slightly annoyed as my leased Navigator is free until they deliver. Slightly annoyed because premium gas is 99.9 cents per litre here in southern Ontario while diesel is still 69.9. That's a big difference.

To get a test drive, I did a vehicle search. Only a couple of dealers had 6.0 'X's in stock. And I found that the dealers that I visted that had the 'X in stock were horrid high pressure sales pressure cookers. I ran away from them and found a dealer I could trust to order one for me.

Re: Not Many New X Owners Out There

The new Ford in charge is an environmental whacko. It's a wonder they still make the X.
