I had a Myron & Davis 10" flip down installed in mine. It came with a new trim piece that makes it look factory. It incorporates the rear air controls, dome lights etc. the DVD player was mounted to the rear bottom of the center console. Very clean.

I went the route you are contemplating, bought the factory OH trim and it included the DVD player and fan control off ebay. It arrived in great condition and was fairly easy to install (I got the mounting frame from Ford). It does NOT plug and play, and the harness was an outrageous amount from Ford. I ended up using an FM modulator but the same could be accomplished fairly easily if you had a wiring diagram. To answer your question, I would NOT do it again now that aftermarket ones look factory and maintain all factory options....plus, for about $150 each, I could get a portable DVD player and have one for each kid for less than the OH unit. Just my two cents. Good luck! Len
