Shell Rotella 15W40 at Sam's Club = $30.00 per case (6 gallons). Non-syn. I used to have the Cummins and the Dodge boys over at the TDR site swear by the Rotella.
Yeah - watch your coolant. Check it about every six months with test strips and add FW-16 if needed. There are a few threads on this site now about the coolant additive.
This has been a much discussed topic. A recent thread, "My dealer says Rotella bad" was quite illuminating. Ford has apparently derated Rotella because of its foaming characteristics. Consensus preference seems to be Chevron Delo in the dino category and for synthetics, Amsoil or Delvac 1.
I am running Delvac 1300 in my CC and Delvac 1 in the X for the winter. I change dino oil at 5000 mile intervals. I will probably change the Delvac 1 in late spring when it has close to 20 k on the oil. I will change the filter with 2 qts new at 5000 mile intervals. For kicks I might have the oil tested at that point. If it works out I might go Delvac 1 for both vehicles permanently as the cost of synthetic will be the same as good dino oil.
