Organizer for drivers console

Does anyone have any suggestions for organizing the cavernous space inside the drivers console between the front bucket seats? I'm considering a 120 qt cooler and a blender!(LOL) Seriously, there's got to be a way to get better use out of this space. Any ideas, suggestions appreciated!

Re: Organizer for drivers console

I removed mine to allow easier access to the back. Since I upgraded my cupholders to the newer ones I don't need the cup holders. Also didn't use the cd changer. My wife loves it! It makes a great place to put the diaper bag/ purse, etc. Its great not having it there. I did have to do a little bit of jumping wires to keep all the speakers working because they go through the rear seat controls. As far as the wife is concerned best mod yet.

Re: Organizer for drivers console

Yeah, I've thought about using clear tackle trays. (I use them to keep screws, washers, etc. sorted in my woodshop.) Also saw a couple of storage-type devices at Target yesterday. Still looking.

Thanks for ideas...

Re: Organizer for drivers console

My wife and I call this "the Dumpster".

If I remove it, is the floor under it carpeted?

Re: Organizer for drivers console

A while back there was a thread talking about taking parts from a Coleman cooler parts list that you can use to make it so an interior light comes on each time you open the lid to the cave. At least then you can actually see inside there.

Re: Organizer for drivers console

Definetely need a light in there. My Denali had one and it was very nice when scrounging around in the dark looking in the cave.

Have also thought about adding a dc/ac converter to run the xbox, but will need to add ventilation.

Re: Organizer for drivers console

Xcruiser

I have a 400 watt inverter under the second row seat right side
Seems to be a good central location. Use it for the PS-2 often and worked great for tail-gating, we can finish cooking in a slow cooker on the way to the game then turn it to low to keep things hot.
I used two feeds through a full wave bridge, one feed is the left side third row power outlet, 20 amps, this one is on all the time for about 200 watts. The second is the trailer battery charging circuit this was a 40 amp but now they put a 20 amp fuse in it, it is all #12 wire and a 30 amp relay so I just changed the fuse to 30 amps so I can use the full 400 watts when the engine is running and the wiring is real easy just a few feet to the left side for both circuits.

Re: Organizer for drivers console

Same console different vehicle. I just installed three 12v lights from RS "1 in the F & 2 in the R" that switch on via a momentary switch that makes contact with the console lid when closed.

I now have plenty of light to see everything in my tupperware storage containers.

Re: Organizer for drivers console

Carlos

It is an orange #12 wire that runs down the left frame rail as I recall.
Ford has used this circuit in pickups and vans for 10 years that I know of.
Use one of those sharp probe testers to find what wire you think it is then pull the fuse and verify it went out. I did not even cut the wire, I just removed the outer covering on the bundle and insulation on the wire then soldered the "tap wire" taped it up and replaced the covering. I used a short chunk of 1/4"OD poly tube over the wire ran it up through what looked like an unused seat belt anchore hole all this is at the back of the left side passenger door.

This circuit is hot in the RUN position only so it make it harder to drain the batteries. Used the same wire in my sons 93 Bronco to feed a large Amp works great!

I thick the other one I used was a #16 yellow but not sure, found it under the second row plastic cover under the door, again real easy to get to.

If you need fuse numbers or circuit numbers just ask.
