OVER REV.

Im not sure if this is a problem or not but I got over 3000 rpm in first gear and the trany let go ( felt and sounded like it went in to nuetral) until I shifted back to drive then everything was fine. Before anyone yells at me I know the X is not a dragster, I just wanted to see what it had off the line. I basically want to know if this is some kind of safety feature to protect against over-reving or if I may have jacked something up.

Re: OVER REV.

You probably hit the engine rev limiter. The PCM cuts fuel to keep the engine from overrevving. That won't hurt anything.
