passenger side airbag shut off

How do you shut off the passenger side airbag? In the manual it shows a shut off on the dash but I cant find it. Is there one? P.S. This is the ultimate rig. Rich

Re: passenger side airbag shut off

Fords with "real" rear seats don't have airbag shutoffs. Supercabs and regular cabs do.
You may find a dealer who will disconnect it for you, but that may cost mucho dinares and will have to be printed on your title. Airbags have deployed even after being disconnected, so euro Ford, VW, SAAB and a few others now refuse to disconnect the passenger airbags (false "security" since they may go off anyway).

I don't know the specifics, but from previous posts, you have get an authorization form from some government agency (NHTA?) before Ford would install the switch for you.
The airbag circuitry is VERY sensitive, and for an individual to try to find the 'trip' wire and try to wire in their own switch would be very unwise. I suspect the transition from the switch going from ON to OFF (and vice-versa), and the 'OFF' status of the switch, requires special circuitry and/or a special switch (gold contacts, etc).
