Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

Does anyone have any pictures of the stock ford swaybar setup on the 03 or 04 Excursion that you could post or e-mail me. Thanks gsullivan@sullivandata.com

Re: Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

well..it seems our '03 doesnt have a rear sway bar. It may be due to the fact that its an early '03 (still a 7.3)model. Sorry I coulndt be of more assistance.

Brian, time to order a Hellwig as no Excursion should be without a rear swaybar!

Re: Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

I hate to admit this, but I'm about as dumb as a fence post when it comes to this sway bar thingy.. I installed a Helwig on the rear of my Excursion over the weekend and don't know how to set the height adjustment. Should the ends of the bar be parallel to the frame? Mine is pointed down at about a 10 - 15 degree angle. Do you think I should cut the hangers to make them shorter? I appreciate any and all advice.

BTW, I love the power of the Excursion but the old F350 is a much more stable platform when pulling the trailer.

Re: Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

I cut one hole off each end of the link assembly so the arm was parallel with the frame. Fits good.

Re: Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

My rear sway bar is adjusted down about 15-20 degrees so the top part of the bar will clear the VSS unit on top of the axle when the suspension rebounds up.

I can take a pic of the current angle and post it if need.

Brian
Thanks for trying. I see you are also a little involved in Mustangs, I got a couple of Cobra's myself. A mildly modded 98 4.6 and a pretty wild '95 5.0 /331

Glenn,
No problem, sorry I couldnt have been more help. Im sure you will get the info you were seeking. Nice to see others are into the Mustangs here as well. The trans in my X decided it didnt want to be there anymore, so it took an extended vacation last night. Now the fiancee wants to trade it in on that Cobra Convert she's been dying for. I guess I will have to start looking for a nice used X soon. Best of luck with your sway bar project.

BK,
I wouldn't worry about it. Mine tilts down about 10 degrees too.
Check out my pics to see my Hellwig installation.

P.S. I have my OEM sway bar for sale, if anyone's interested.

Did you see a lot of difference in the OEM to the Helwig?

Re: Pictures of 03 or 03 Excursion Rear Swaybar

Yeah, a BIG Difference!!!! The Hellwig is larger and heavier and doesn't flex as much as the OEM bar. The Hellwig was the best mod to my X, PERIOD.

Mike which holes on the frame did you use to bolt the links to? They seem abit farther angled back than mine which are vertically straight.
