Everything showed up in time so friday night I tore into it. The install wasn't too bad for doing most of it by myself. A buddy came over and helped me finish the back and start on the front but had to leave. I finished it up and had the tires put on saturday morning.
The lift only gave me 6" in front and 4 1/2" on back. Overall the lift and tires gave me 8" in front and 6 1/2" in the back.
I guess the next stop is a air bag kit for the back as you can see it sits a bit off level. I dont like that, buts that is the only thing i dont like. the ride is tons better and the looks are great too.
Lookin good there Todd Appears like the kids are ready for another ride!
My wife just checked out the new lift and tires and that's about the combo she want's for her Excursion

How badly are the tires pinched on the skinny stock wheels? I wan bigger tires, but thought the 7 inch wheels would cause too much sidewall flex, and tire wear in the center. I like the stock wheels, so it's hard to justify $500 for new wheels.

they are not as bad as you might think. the tires are 315's which you can run up to 305's on 8" wheels. they are just a bit rounded over. I aired them down to 40PSI and it helped too.
I do plan to get new wheels, just couldnt afford it all at the same time. I had to by my wife new carpet too which cost more than the lift and tires did
I figured i will go big on some really nice wheels this way. instead of going for the $500 set, i can get something in the $500 each range.
dont you think those brass bullets in the jesse james wheels would accent my gold bottom paint

I'll have to get back to you on the mileage Yellowman. I'm guessing it should go up a bit. I did tow a car home sunday with it and I could notice the taller tires took a little wind out of my sail in the power department.
before I started the truck measured 39" to the rear fender and 37" to the front. it now measures 45 1/2" rear and 45" in front with 40 PSI in all 4 tires.
the kit was new springs in front and blocks in back. I plan to put airbags on it for loads and may eventually change out the rear springs so that I can run just the factory side bump blocks (still use the air bags) with the springs doing all the lift.
I was in a pickle, I really needed tires and started having one go flat every two or three days so the lift and tires had to get bumped up and installed faster than I was really ready for.
it turns a lot of heads now, that is for sure. I love the truck, I'm just slowly reversing what Ford/Navistar should have never done to the PSD!
CCV reroute and new air box went on yesterday "we'll just dump that oil out on the ground under the truck like my 3 Cummins did"

Knew you would like the X lifted and the stock wheels work out just fine. I would also like to drop some cash on fancy wheels, but the performance parts are just getting more important to me now!

Todd T and ShayB, How much room do you have to spare in the fender wells? I am ordering a 4" lift and want to run 315's but don't want them to rub. If they wont fit I will have to goto 305's because a 6" lift is out of the question. The reason for no 6" is that my garage isn't tall enough. With 4" lift and 315's there will be about 1" to spare. It gets very cold here in the winter (like -50* very often) so parking outside is not much fun.
I really don't see 315s fitting on a 4" lift, my tires rub on my springs when I turn too tight, but I could very easily be wrong.
Start looking through pics of lifted Excursions on dieselstop and if you find one with a 4" lift and 315s, email them and see if they are working out. That is what I did when putting my tires on my stock wheels.
Good luck. There is nothing better than a lifted X!
