PIE Adapter

I searched previous posts and thought I'd ask since I couldn't find an answer to this specific question.

Will the Ford PIE Adapter work with the 821 series radio? I left a similar question with PIE. Thanks in advance.

Re: PIE Adapter

Not sure what the 821 series radio is but for what its worth I have a 2002 XLT Excursion with the cassette/single CD stereo with rear audio controls and I have a PIE adapter for my iPOD. I also have a cell phone harness in-line as well to use the stereo's sound system for speakers and muting of the stereo when on a call.

Re: PIE Adapter

Thanks for the response, obonaventure.

The 821 is part of the Ford model number of my factory 6-disc changer (found on the radio, when removed from the dash). The PIE website says the adapter I was looking at will work with an 868 series. I've requested info from them, too.

How does the interface you are using work? What do you 'tune' to, to hear your Ipod? Do you have the PIE part number?

EDIT 5/3/05 10:55AM: I spoke to tech support at PIE and they indicated that the FRDN-AUX adapter would work even thought the model number 821 part is different than what their cross reference indicates. He said that the adapter works with all '02 CD changers and that the model number is more critical starting with build dates of some of the late '02s and '03s. Looks like a pretty cool set up that I just gotta have ....

Re: PIE Adapter

The sound is great. You press the CD button twice, which puts it into "DJ Mode". The PIE unit basically taps into the CD changer option built into the stereo. It attaches inline with the 20 pin harness that is at the back of the stereo.

I believe the part# is FRDN-AUX.

I'm not sure about the cmpatability with the 6CD changer. But I've heard people say the companies web site say no but people here say yes it works.

I have an FRDN-AUX on my '02 with the 6CD changer. It works great!
