PillarPod light hookup

Ok I have finally installed the probe to the EGT gauge and all the gauges are working. Now I need some help in getting to the wire that dims the dash lighting (blue w\white tracer). I have tried to use the instructions found on another site but cannot get the switch out. Has somebody here actually done this. The gauges work great but kinda hard to see at night. Thanks in advance

Re: PillarPod light hookup

Start probing wires in the fuse panel under the steering wheel to find one that dims with the dash lights--at least when I got my gauges installed that was easier than yanking the switch.

Re: PillarPod light hookup

ezaiss...

I did mine over the weekend and pulled the switch and spliced in there...I got the wire color from the CDROM manual and I will have to get it at home if you need it (the color, that is). Its easy to get the switch out...turn the switch to 'on' (pull the battery negative cable to keep the 'ding' off!)...you will see a small slot at the base of the switch at the bottom of the wide part...slide a SMALL screwdriver into the slot to push back a hook and bingo! off comes the knob. Then turn the knob 180 degrees and put it back on (it will not snap into place because you turned it 180!), turn it past 'on' and the whole assembly falls out into your hand! Its really slick, IMHO, and takes longer to tell than to do!

Re: PillarPod light hookup

ezaiss,

Save yourself the trouble of pulling the switch. Remove the 'fuse panel' cover from under your steering wheel. To the right of your steering column you will find a brown 6 wire connector. The top center wire in that connector is a blue wire with a red tracer. This is the wire you need to tap for the dash lights and, yes it is hooked to the dimmer. JS.
