The Planet of the Windshield Wipers has arrived....

My wipers seem to have gotten a mind of thier own. They just wipe once or twice by themselves sometimes. Seems to happen more frequently as the days go on.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

There was a recall on the wiper motors for 2000 models. You are describing what sounds like the result of the affected wiper motors. Get this checked soon out by a dealer(the other symptom is fire)At least a phone call.

Re: The Planet of the Windshield Wipers has arrived....

I believe the recall was for the plastic back cover of the wiper motor. If the wiper motor would overheat, it could melt the cover and catch fire. Ford, in other models, have had problems with the wiper switch causing false activation of the wipers.

In any case, make sure the recall has been done. The recall might correct the problem at no charge to you. . If the recall does not correct the problem, the wiper switch would be the next thing I would look at.

Hope this helps,

RYAN! What's up home-slice?!

I haven't had this happen to my X but it did to my F150. Pull the cap off the arms where they connect to the motor and make sure that the bolts are tight. If they get loose they will only work sometimes.

Ironically, BOTH of mine loosened at the same time but one was worse than the other. It was only a 5 minute fix after I figured out to check for it. Hopefully that's all it is.
