Plow on X

Has anyone put a plow on their X? Thinking about this and wondering about warranty questions and general feasability.
Any input appreciated

Re: Plow on X

I have a Snoway V-Blade plow on my Excursion with the f-550 springs in front and ford 4 inch blocks in rear. This is a great truck for plowing. You should see the looks I get from other plowers.

Re: Plow on X

E-mail me and I will send Pic's of my truck with the plow on. I don't yet know how to post them online. We only got a couple of inches of snow here in Delaware but I did make a couple of hundred bucks today very good truck did most in 2 wheel drive. Added 450 pounds of weight in rear to offset weight of plow.

Re: Plow on X

The Ford Product Guide for the Excursion says it is not recommended for snowplowing.

You definitely will have to increase the front spring rating. Adding of a steering stabilizer might help durability. A live axle front end (as opposed to the IFS of Chevy/GM) seems to have much better durability for snow plow use.

Re: Plow on X

With at least the Fischer and probably other snow plow manufacturers, you will have to remove the blocker beam assembly to mount the headgear. Unlike the pickups, on the X, the blocker beam protects the bottom part of the various radiators. Fully exposed to a frontal impact, it is only a matter a time before you would wipe out the radiators, especially plowing commercially.

I am sure some will get away with mounting a plow on an X but it is similar to making a pick and shovel from gold instead of steel. Using the wrong tool for the job will always cost you more in the end. IMHO.

Re: Plow on X

Yeah guys----I decided after cheking with my supplier and reading the owners manual I'm better off just paying the locals to destroy their rigs while I sip coffe and eat donuts. Do appreciate the info though. PolrBr,,where you been???

Re: Plow on X

X-cuses,

Was down in Nashville. Had a chance to meet Aces which was a lot of fun.

My comment about the F250/350 radiators being protected without a blocker beam may not be accurate for the 2001 models. I noted a couple of threads about the 2001 pickups having blocker beams that protected the radiators. Maybe they changed the configuration when they added the blocker beam??
