I just moved to 9000ft, my X is really pissed at me, I even unplugged the programer to help cold start....it worked, I think it was too rich, it puked black smoke at start big time. So now I can plug in, I would like to just leave it plugged in, it gets -10 at night and 10 at day, it was -20 the other week and it started unplugged, took a few tries but it started. So is it safe to plug and leave or should I do it before I am going to drive it. I now park it and walk to work so it can sit for days. Once it warms it pulls these mountians like a train, Loveland Pass, Vail Pass....this truck levels them.

high altitude tunes would help alot. For edge products I would contact Bill at PHP. I would only plug in 3-4hrs before a trip. I pulled mt evans 2 yrs ago with 8 adults and 3 dogs. I fogged for skeeters but pulled great. It was july so we just had 20-24 degress and light snow!!!
You could get a good timer for the wall socket that you plug into also. That way, it isn't plugged in all the time with you paying the electric bill and/or it is ready to go when you usually want it with a little heat in it to aid starting.

A high quality timer is a must!!! That engine heater is a 1500 watt heater, and will make minced meat of your electric bill if plugged in all the time.

Go with the timer and set it for about (3) hours before you plan to start it. If you dont mind the power bill plug it in when you go to bed and it will be ready in the AM. I live in Denver an ski on the weekends it can be brutal leaving the X in Keystone's large lot for 2 nights and then cranking on it. I have a small honda 2000 generator that i start and chain to my front tow hook on suday mornings, saves on the batts and starter.

Thanks....the best part is I do not pay the electric bill. I used to use a timer and brought it, the problem is I never know when I will drive it, and if it came on every day for 3-4 hours I am afraid of condensation building up and not getting burned off. I could even take the bus if I need to go to the store. I really don't like the idea of plugging it in 24/7, even though it is free it is a 1500 watt heater under there and it could short out and burn the X down. I think the plan is to plug it in either at night or the morning depending on when I needed it. After crammming 200,000 miles into this truck in 4 years it has been nice to only put on 20,000 in the last 2. Maybe I can make this truck last 20 years. I know I will own it till I die, I will just keep making it bigger and more powerful.
