Plumes of white smoke/ Jerking before it shifts??

Hey, was doing some reading here on this new problem i have with the excursion. Very intermittent, but lately more so. Am thinking of taking it in, seems to be more so in the tow mode that i am getting this plume of white smoke and jerky shifting.....anyone else have these same probs? If so, what was the solution?

It sure sounds similar to what Excursion_4x4 went through last February with his 2004 6.0L.

I believe the dealer had replaced the EGR throttle body and sensors, perhaps he may chime in on the thread.

Re: Plumes of white smoke/ Jerking before it shifts??

update:
took it in and they reflashed...seems it is something ford is familiar with, as it seemed to do the trick. A lot smoother power delivery, although tow/ haul does not seem to work as well. it seems to shift a little sooner than it did before taking it in.

At least you got that problem taken care of

That's one thing I find pretty common with the 6.0's is the word re-flash is associated with them

Re: Plumes of white smoke/ Jerking before it shifts??

I can not get over how much better my '04 engine runs after the reflash. Much better throttle response. My trans is shifting a lot more firm now that it has "relearned" over the last several hundred miles. It was pretty weak right after the flash. Yours should do the same. They reflash 3 computers when they do it so your trans has to be schooled all over again.
