Popping noise is back!

Anytime I turn to the left and the body rolls to the right, I get this loud pop under the driver's floorboard. When the truck had 200 miles on it, they had to replace the front left body bushing for the same reason. 26000 miles later we're doing it again. Anyone else have the joy of experiencing this?

Re: Popping noise is back!

Our 2000 X did that after about 5000-10000 miles i beleive it was. They ended up replacing every body mount and it still does it every now and then.

Re: Popping noise is back!

Had it on 2 Excursions so far, it sucks. You would think for the kind of money they ask they could at least fix some of the common problems many of us experience, popping, door rattles, cps, oil in the valley, etc...

Unacceptable. I can't believe the luck of that type part failing on numerous occasions. Off to the dealer I go.

Re: Popping noise is back!

Ya, I've dealt with this on my 2000. No problem with the 2003 yet. My noise was more of a clunk over bumps going straight down the road. I've replaced the bolt and lower insulator twice under the drivers feet. When Ford fixed it about 2 years ago, they replaced both mounts under the front passenger compartment. They added a spacer between the body puck and the body cut out of antifreeze bottles. Yep, high tech stuff.

This was suggested by the field engineer because it worked to resolve a pop noise on a SD CC. I felt this was unrelated to the clunk, but the pop noise you describe may be the body flex catching the body mount and popping the floor pan. The spacer may let the metal slide and not catch the body mount. My theory is the floor pan is not reinforced enough at the mounting points.

Re: Popping noise is back!

Well, picked up the X yesterday. Popping noise is gone. They had to tighten up the front sway bar linkage and replace upper and lower body bushings/mounts. Other than that, a good coating of electrical grease took care of the door creaks/rattles. I'm back on the road!
