I just took our 02 X to the dealer to have some warranty work completed. Of that we had them diagnose and fix a "popping" noise under the front driver's seat pan. Ford said they had a TSB on that problem and had to order a bolt for the repair. After two days the problem resurfaced...usually as I am entering and exiting a driveway via turning.
Has anyone had Ford repair this problem and received a permanent fix? I remember reading about this some time ago but have forgotten the outcome of the posts.
Don't quote me, but I believe that the last I saw on this it was either body mounts, or more likely a loose (or worn) swaybar endlink. I'd think the swaybar endlink would be pretty easy to check if you wanted to crawl under your x and see if it was loose.
Regards,
Dave

I think at one point the swaybar bushings were a culprit too. And at one point they used too small a swaybar or something. Seems like anything they screw up on under there results in that stupid popping!

I had mine repaired after 500 miles. It was the body bushing on the driver's side. Problem was fixed. No other probs (with the body bushing) over last 7000 miles.

I have the same problem. I noticed it after I lifted mine, so I thought it was related. Glad to hear it's not. I have installed 4 other lifts myself with friends on their X's and Super Duties with no problems. I'm glad I saw this thread, it will save me alot of trouble shooting.
I had the exact same problem. My teenage daughter, who likes to ride in the seat right behind the driver, was actually "feeling" the popping noise through her feet. The dealers first attempt at a fix was to tighten the body mount bolts. Two weeks later the popping noise returned. This time the dealer replaced the body mount bearings on the affected side. Problem solved!
