From what I remember they are not hard to install although they are not a direct replacement. If you want a direct replacement you have to get the Ford ones. Do a search using +door +locks and you will find the instructions for installing those actuators.
I had to replace my passenger side rear door lock actuator (Stopped working). My repair manual shows how to remove the latch. Not too hard and how to pull the actuator off of the latch. I made a trip to the local dealer and $48 later had the actuator. Funny thing though....They had a ton instock! Must be a popular item with warranty!

I've got two out right now, what a pain! It seems that this is a huge problem with these trucks, as I had a really old Suburban with electric doors locks and they were always fine?!?!

It sounds like the old saying things were built better back then is true in some instances but the price we pau nowadays we'd all figure we'd get our moneys worth

They are very popular since they were all junk. The news ones should last longer..so they say. The 00'-02 Excursions had the weak ones but the new ones are better. I have replaced all 4 of mine with the updated ones so we will see.
i have replaced many door lock motors on ford.......i use the aftermarket motors....takes about 15-20 mins to install......if anyone needs any help, just let me know..i might have some pics...send e-mail address and ill see if i can find the pics....
