Power door locks???

Do our Excursions have auto-locking door locks? I am talking about the ones that self lock when you reach 15 mph (or whatever it is), and unlock when you put the vehicle in park???

I am asking because I just don't know. I bought my Ex used, and if it is supposed to do this... mine never has! (at least for as long as I have had it)

Thanks in advance!

Re: Power door locks???

Or the computer. 2000 had a problem when this was active the windows would roll up. So they cut it off dew to the hazard of children getting hurt by the window going up.

Re: Power door locks???

Cali our 2002 also has the auto lock feature and it should be a standard with the Excursions,I haven't heard of one yet without but I'm sure someone will chime in

Once we put it in drive they lock.

Re: Power door locks???

On my 00 X it dosen't have this feature and it can't be programmed in through Ford. I think they started doing this when the dash clusters changed in 02. When I installed the Crimestopper remote start it had the option to program it in so I did and like it.

Re: Power door locks???

I believe most of them have it....even my 98 XLT Expedition had it, but there is an issue with the door sensors being flakey. When this happens, the auto-lock is the first to go. Next, you might see issues with the interior lights staying on for extended periods of time as well as the door ajar staying on longer than normal. I have a friend with an Ex and he has had the issue as well as another with a 99 F150. Its about $75 for labor.

Re: Power door locks???

My used 02 locks the doors, but does not unlock the doors automatically. This is very annoying when you have passengers in the back. Once you stop and get out they are left locked in.

Are they suppose to unlock? If so how can I program mine to do that?

Re: Power door locks???

My 01 doesn,t have autolocks either. Must be 02 and later but none have auto-unlock. You just pull the door handle and it mechanically unlocks that door individually.

Re: Power door locks???

My 01 has it. But it's a part of the security system that came with the truck. 5 seconds after the key is turned on, the doors lock.
As soon as the key is turned off, they unlock.
