Power Seats and Reverse Sensing System

I seem to be having a little problem with my X. Recently, I started running into problems with the Power Seats and the Reverse Sensing System.

Reverse Sensing System: When I put the truck into Reverse the Sensing system will not always pick up things that are behind me, but will occassionaly emit a semi-long beep and then stop. Other times it will work fine. Another thing that I have noticed is that this problem only really surfaced after a snow/ice storm that we had (no damage to the truck itself- ). I checked the sensors themselves and there was nothing on them (no dirt or anything let alone ice). Even if there was a small layer of Ice that would throw it off, it would have melted off by now because we have had several days of 45 degree + days.

Power Seats: Recently I went out to the truck and found that the driver seat, power pedals and memory button were not working (no sound or anything). So I went into the fuse box to check the fuse and tightened everything up and then the seat worked. It worked for about a week or so, and then just yesterday I went out and I had the same problem. Only this time the problem only lasted for a few minutes and then it started to move and work fine.

When I took it in to the dealer to fix these two issues they said they could not reproduce it and everything was working fine. After these problems resurfaced since the dealer looked at it, I am now going to try and take it to another local dealer to see if they can find the problem.

Any ideas what the problem is with either of these issues? Suggestions for the dealer?

Thanks.

Re: Power Seats and Reverse Sensing System

hello !
The seat functions are controlled by the (dsm) Driver seat module.
It is possible that the module has lost its calibration.(this means the seat motors have position sensors which feedback to the module)
It can be recalibrated by the dealer using a scan tool.
Also they can see if the module is setting codes or if the seat sensors are bad.do you store things under your seats or are their papers or
stuff that could block a sensor under your seats?
as for the parking aid or backup alarm ,this is also controlled by a
(PAM) parking aid module .with a scan tool attached they can see if the module or rear sensors are bad or posting dtc's .

Re: Power Seats and Reverse Sensing System

My backup sensors always act flakey for about a day after I wash it. I suspect you're seeing the same thing following the ice/snowstorm. (not that it helps you).

Just a little backup sensor story. I was sitting in Best Buy trying to back out of my space last night. I had it in Reverse with my foot on the brake, but with the Christmas crowds cars kept going by. Finally, just as I was finally clear a couple walked right behind the X. I guess you can hear the backup sensors from outside the truck as their heads snapped as the tone went off. I laughed my butt off as i watched them get into their suburban with a look of amazement on their faces.

Re: Power Seats and Reverse Sensing System

Just as an update, I took the car to the dealer and here is what they said:

Reverse Sensing System: They were able to pick up a bad sensor on the bumper and ordered the part for it to fix it.

Power Seat/Pedal problems: Apparently the cause of all of this is the memory seat module, except that it is on National Backorder right now and could take something like 3-5 weeks to get it (I'm working on getting it sooner).

I will let you know how things go after all is said and done.
