I tried turning it off 'cause i heard that would do it but didn't work. Powered up or down it is just a gauge of sorts and it reports what the PCM tells it. The PCM is confused so we get the inaccurate read.

Reno Husker Du,
cliebold correct me if I read it wrong. As I read it "put" = pull "comp" = computer and "prog" = programing!

My understanding is there is not a code that specifically lets the dealer know what was done, but a generic code indicating the PCM has been 'accessed'.
I have had mine scanned by the dealer twice after deprogramming and nothing has been said and no warranty work refused. Maybe I just have a good service dept!?

I don't bother deprogram anymore. My dealer's staff are really great. They really like my modified trucks and told me they like to work on them and see what new things I have added. I notice many of the mechanics and service writers own vehicles have all sorts of mods so, short of adding something that does obvious damage they will go the extra mile.
