I read many post of people buying the Excursions for under invoice. I want to purchase a 2001 and the best I have been able to find is $300.00 over invoice. This brings my price to $42504.00 with all of the goodies. This price is before tax, the price with tax and fees is $44,800. How are you guys finding these good deals? I am getting ready to order but would like to get a better deal.

You have to find a dealer who has a 2000 unit on the lot. Hopefully in the color you want - make it clear you are going to buy - tell him, over the phone, you are in condtact with someone who just paid ($38,500 is what I paid - 00 Ex LTD PSD)(whatever other price you've heard - be realistic) - "can you do that (price)??"
It's best done over the phone - they know if you don't get what you want thet will never get your business.
I told them " I'm buying an EX on Thursday, possibly from you - $xxx is the price I'm going to pay. I calling all the dealers in xxx area, can you do it??"
Hope that helps.
BTW my sticker price was $46,300 - Dealer Invoice $41,156

you're not even CLOSE to the best deal you can get----what city are you in??? I know when I was shopping, they were lined up to GIVE them away----they were begging---F**D had an incentive---the dealers had an incentive---the interest rates were practically zero----just hold out a little, and be prepared to shop out of town---you'll get a way better deal than that---and I concur----look for a 2K, and they're out there, and you'll get WAY better than 300 under!!!!

Just bought a 2001 Limited. Invoice was $41,251. I bought it for $40,997 and they through in a bugshield and they gave me an allowance for new tires. The dealers have close to $1900 to play with on the back end.
3% of MSRP holdback plus 1.25% of invoice if they are a blue oval dealer so ask for a sales manager and skip the salesman as there is nothing in it for them. I called almost every dealer in the state before I found one to deal with me. I found a dealer that wanted to deal on a 2000 but they were lying about invoice cost. The sales manager was trying to add $750 to the invoice for which I had a copy of from another dealer. If you are ordering they should deal since there is no cost in it for them. They will not have to floor plan it and will get all the holdback plus blue oval money.
I have some more pricing questions. I have a copy of the 2001 Excursion Price List. Which price is the dealer actually paying. There is dealer price, dealer invoice w/holdback, and suggested retail? I know it is not suggested retail. I would like to pay dealer price, but if thats what they are paying for it how is there any money in it for them? The prices for a Limited 4x4 base with no options is

Dealer invoice is what a dealer pays for the vehicle. Holdback is what the manufacturer provides the dealership with once the vehicle is sold. It typically cover the cost of running a dealership such as floor plan financing, administrative costs etc. The blue oval money is currently 1.25% of the invoice cost and is paid to the dealership if they have obtained the Blue Oval Certification. This is what is called a Dealer Incentive. This is typically money the consumer will never see. You will not see this amount on the invoice. The only other number on the invoice is the "A Plan" which is the cost for employees of Ford. If you order you should be able to buy for invoice. If a vehicle sits on a dealer's lot for more than 90 days all of the holdback money is typically used for financing costs. Hope this makes sense.

DEFINITELY look for a 2000 model. I bought mine in September for $33,850 which was $10,000 below MSRP. On top of that, I got 0.9% Financing for 3 years. The dealership was offering $10K off ANY Excursion model they had whether XLT, Limited, Diesel, Gas, 4x2, 4x4, etc.
Just be careful of their tricks...I made a post on this.

Did you mean MSRP or invoice? That seems like a really high invoice price.

Well, I'm back on board the Ford-Diesel.com board after having been away for awhile. I just purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion last Saturday at Planet Ford in Spring,Tx. I got $10,000 off MSRP for a fully loaded 2000 Excursion Limited 4x4 PSD with .9% financing for 5 years. It's unbelievable what these dealerships are doing to get the 2000's off their lots. Anyways, I look forward to seeing what aftermarket products I can put on it. Fun, Fun... I guess I'll need to change my signature now...
Every time I read about the "$10K off sticker" deal, I chase it down. And every time I chase it down it just aint there! I'm not saying nobody got it, I'm just saying they won't give it to me. Randall Reed in TX said they were doing it but when I said I'll take one they backpeddled and said the sale was over "a week ago." That was in very early Oct.(I'm aware of the end date of the incentive. Their "week ago" placed the timeframe of that lie in the 3rd week in SEPT!). Other dealers just flat out denied giving anyone any such deal.
I emailed the Spring, TX dealer again, based on this thread, and they deny any such deal. They say there must have been a trade or in-house financing or extended warranty or other "extra profit" componant to cover the loss.
I'll gladly cancel my 2001 order if I could get a 2000 EX PSD 4x4 LTD for $10K off the original factory sticker. I dare some dealer to honestly offer it to me.
Glenn in Den.
DISCLAIMER: This thread and the associated frustration is directed at the dealers and NOT the people who claim to have received the claimed deal. No feelings were hurt in the making of this post.
