Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

I am about to make my final decision on shock choice and need some final feed back! I am getting ready to start by ordering the Pro Comp. steering stabilizer with a blue boot. Do the Pro Comp Explorer shocks compare to the Bilstein or Rancho's? What kind of Pro Comps do they offer for the X? They have the right look for me matching my X and boat if they are good shocks!! Please help...BTW I mostly drive the X empty but do take 200 - 400 mi. round trips with about 6-7K lbs. of boat and trailer.

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

I have them on mine. I also have U-codes on the front. I am pleased with the Pro Comp ES3000 shocks and ES2000 steering stabilizer. I got them at a great price from 4 wheelparts. $130 delivered to the door for 4 shocks, 1 stabilizer and 5 boots. I have not tried the Ranchos or Bilstiens. I did try the Edelbrock IAS once on a Suburban and was not really impressed, especially when one tried to kill me. It was leaking and when I removed it the shock exploded and almost hit me in the head. It was in 3 pieces. Anyway the only problem that I had was with the rears. I can not believe that Pro Comp has not run into this before. The application chart is wrong. The computer, both 4wheelparts and mine, as well as the book, I saw it, show the same shock for the rear from a 0"-4" lift. They were not even close. The shock body was almost as long as my entire stock shock. Other than that no problems. I did not put the boot on the steering stabilizer, I have read that it can hold waster. Good luck.

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

Alright, after receiving one reply I decided to do some more research!! After much reading I will order the Pro Comp. ES 2000 steering stabilizer for now and save some more coin for the Bilstein's. I like to do things right the first time and be done...so Bilstein's will be the next shocks on my 2000 X!

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

sorry late on the reply. i ahve had the comps on mine for a few months now and no complaints, the price is well worth it and anything is better then the stock set-up, i have 3 inches of lift and the ride is better then before, although i did do other mods, i do not think you will be dissapointed with the pro comps, plus a much better price then the bilsteins

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

Save your money and buy either Bilstein or Fox. I had dual Pro-Comp ES3000 on the front of my lifted X. I hated it. I bought Fox all the way around and was the best $800 I've spent.

Take it for what it's worth.

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

dual shocks on the front of anything will make it ride like crap.

had dual on the front of a lifted 79 pick-up hated it, bounced me down the road, took one off and big difference...

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

Personally I dont care for Pro-Comp shocks. Arent the es3000s hydraulic? compare those to Bilstein, Rancho etc. gas charged. You get what you pay for. No comparison. My friend was using pro-comps on his super-duty, he replaced them with Bilstein 5100s and he said it was a huge improvement.

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

don't recall which pro comps i am running but they were gas...not hydraulic,

to each there own on this subject, i wasn't bashing one over the other, mine rides great on these shocks and were 1/2 the price..

Re: Pro Comp. Shock Owners Please Respond

For the record, the ES9000's are the Nitrogen Gas charges shocks. the ES3000's Cellular tube shocks. For the Money...the ES9000's cant be beat, Had them on my gasser and they handled great on the street and off-road, they kept my 35" mud terrains under control. If you have the coin however..get the Bilsteins! BTW the Pro-comps were on for over 2 years and had no problems and rode just like the day I bought them.
