PSD Idle Adjuster Controller

I'm looking for the manufacturer of the optional PSD Idle Adjust Control box found between the seats on top of the transmission tunnel in the 2000 Ford HD-250 and HD-350. We could really use it here in Alaska for wintertime use to keep the X warm and charged up during long idle times (you don't shut the PSDs off for any great length of time when out cruising when it's 40 below zero). The local Ford dealers want $600+ for it. I've heard they can be found on line for $400 or less (minus the Ford emblem). Bob Riley has a very simple version for $169 which is a great deal for an idle only control. I was interested in the charge monitoring capability of the Ford box.
Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
BTW. I drove my 2000 right off the Dealer's lot on a six hundred mile fishing trip. Speed's varied between 45 and 70. I got 18 mpg. It just blew my mind. Only complaint is a common one "The sea sickening big roll". Edelbrocks, Ranchero, and Helligs are being ordered to compensate for Ford's "gypo" suspension. Otherwise, it is a wonderful "Tank" to drive. I was amazed at it's turning radius. It's much better than I thought it would be.
Thanks for any and all info.

All you ever wanted to know about Auxiliary Idle Control AIC or Auxiliary Powertrain Control Module APCM usage in Excursions.

Here's the company that manufactures them http://www.sturdycorp.com but I believe it is licensed to/from Ford, so that probably won't help you much. You can buy the Ford version (which I would recommend) and install it (without too much trouble).

In terms of what I now reference, I am 'Standing on the Backs of Giants' who have already done the legwork. Thanks to jbkrab, Excursion7.3PSD, HeliPilot, SmokeyWren, Cas and others.

Here's a good explanation of the Auxiliary Powertrain Control Module (APCM) http://forums.ford-diesel.com:8080/u...ML/000597.html

Here is info about a legitimate Ford dealer who sells them, Gene Louder of White Motor Company in Texas: http://www.myfreeoffice.com/idlekit.

Somebody who is making a woodgrain faceplate for it sepowers@msn.com was charging $25. If you don't like the original black, you can also remove the cover and make it any color you want.

This explains why the Excursion does not have the connector available for the APCM like the pickups do. (Instead of the connector, two Y splices in the data bus circuit are hardwired between the PCM, the Passive AntiTheft System (PATS) and the Data Link Connector (DLC) below the steering column) http://forums.ford-diesel.com:8080/u...ML/000073.html

This explains the manual wiring necessary because the Excursion doesn't have the factory plug available for the APCM http://forums.ford-diesel.com:8080/u...ML/000169.html

and the continuation... http://forums.ford-diesel.com:8080/u...ML/000174.html

IMDOK, there's a dealer in texas that sells the Ford unit for $325 plus shipping. Here's the link: www.myfreeoffice.com/idlekit. I haven't used it myself, but I got it from my egroups.com Powerstroke Forum. I'm moving to Iceland soon and will be installing one. Good luck and keep that diesel warm, Cas (2000 Excursion Limited, PSD, 4x4, Las Vegas, NV)
