RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

On Friday August 13, 1999, while my wife and I were in Maine on a vacation, a drunk crossed the center stripe in a curve and hit us head on.
Killed him and left me a changed person physically.
Took 45 minutes to cut me out of the Suburban.
We were driving a 4 x 4 diesel suburban. It saved my life.
From experience, I know that physics is the name of the game in a collision- he who is bigger wins.
In fact, I ordered a 2000 diesel Excursion, while in the hospital in Maine.
Every since then my wife and I have wanted to install a locomotive cattle guard on the front of our cars. I did not on the 00 Excursion.
But, I am looking at the Ranch Hand Bullnose bumper that will fit the 05 I have on order. Similiarly they have rear bumpers that are replaceable.
The appearance does not bother me. As between physics in a head on and appearance, I will take physics every time.
Comments?

Re: RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

These trucks need better bumpers the stock ones are a joke. I rear ended some one last week didnt hit hard and my front bumper folded in the middle looks bad. The body shop sent it out for repair I thought he was joking but he said thats what the insurance co. requires. They have to try and repair it first. They restamped it painted it and it looks like new. Doesn't take much to bend them. Ken

Re: RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

I have always had front bumper/brush guard replacements and rears as well. I've had them from many different manufactures. I would say that the Ranch Hands are probably the best. The paint holds up well and they are very cleanly made.

I have not had time to get one put on my '04 Excursion, but it will be coming very soon, I promise you that. I actually like and prefer the way the vehicles look with these bumpers. I believe it makes them look much tougher and stout. The factory bumpers, while nice and pretty, don't do much for saving your ass in any major collision.

Two years ago, I hit a deer doing 70 mph, with a trailer loaded with 8,000 lbs. of corn. When I hit the deer, I thought this is going to hurt. The mature buck was nearly folded in half, not a single dent or scratch on my truck. Other than having to remove a lot of deer hair from the front grill, there was no damage. Really messed up that deer!

Get the bumpers!!!

Re: RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

I have been looking for better replacment bumber for my Excursion. I am alittle concerned with the diamond plate look on an Excursion and all the sites that sell them don't have very good pictures of them.
Does any one have good pictures of after market bumpers. Thanks, Ken

Re: RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

I don't think they would let you delete a bumper. A new painted bumper cost about $400.00 at a dealer. May be the same price for chrome? I bet you would have no problem selling it on this forum or ebay. Ken

All you need now is the N-Fab bars to make it all complete

Re: RANCH HAND BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK?

Yes, it's the cowboy model, 8". The factory hitch was sort of a pain in the rear to remove. It had two break-a-way bolts that needed to be air chiseled out. Others in this forum have done it by grinding off the "heads" , torched, etc. In any event, once they are off, it's a breeze to install...

CHP: Yeah, though of puting some kind of nerf bar, but the wifey likes the "cute" steps with those "cute" lights... , gots to compromise somewhere.
BTW, do u have one of those ship air horns?? - that would be a blast for a Wally World parking lot clearance, specially those running against traffic (got to install one). ...
BTW, nice rig and clearance lights.

A ship horn would be pretty cool but then again an actual frieght train locomotive horn set that requires a steady 90psi to sound would be a plus

Thanks for the comp on the lights and rig,the clearance lights make all the difference at night
