Just had the local Sears store mount 4 Rancho RS 9000 shocks on my EX. The part numbers are 9266 and 9267. Cost was $67.99 each plus $13.99 each for installation. Total with tax was $346. Not worth getting dirty for less than $60 labor. Does anyone else out there have these shocks? Which of the settings 1-5 work best for you? I will be testing them over the next several days in the different settings but would like to get some feedback on what settings work for you front and rear. Also waiting for a mail-order RS5406 shock to replace the stock steering stabilizer. Any installation advice would be appreciated.
Good price on the shocks. I paid 72.99 from Summit but I installed them myself.I love my shocks. I love how you can dial them to fit your taste.
I have a front end replacement which is basically a steel pipe front bumper with steel push guard welded to it and it adds about 450# to the front end so I'm sure it makes a difference. I set my front and rear on 2. I think 1 would work on the front as long as you are on the highway. I tend to go from highway to county roads so 2 is a more universal setting for me. I tow a travel trailer with weight distributing hitch and I use 3 on the front and 4 on the rear when I am pulling it.
If you plan on going from on to off-road a lot where you need to adjust them frequently you may want to consider the remote changer. It rained here a lot the last two weeks and between towing and not towing and sometimes hauling ,it tends to get a little dirty crawling underneath to change them in the rain.
As far as the steering stabilizer, I love mine. The 5406 does not come with new bracket and hardware so you must relocate the OEM bracket. It is a little difficult as there are indentions in the steering link for the bracket so the u-bolts are smaller than the bar diameter. If you work with it you can get the stock bracket on in the new location but it isn't a cakewalk. Since $13.00 wasn't much to you for shock installation you may want to consider purchasing the Rancho bracket(5542-$23.99 from summit) or order the stabilizer kit which includes stabilizer and bracket(97488-$49.95 from summit) instead of just the stabilizer. I didn't order them but I like a good challange. Good luck with your toys.

Ok am I missing something here went to 4wheel parts and at first they gave me the 5406 which seemed fine except it lacked the steel bushings for the rubbers, I call to see if they have any and they tell me I need the 5404, well it had one of the bushings and they gave me another. Now my question is I just dropped my stock stabilizer and replaced it with the Rancho 5404 and all seems fine. Is it because I was replacing and you guys are starting fresh?? Just want to be sure. Thanks
Dave

Ended up using the #3 setting up front with the #2 on the rears. Best combo for the highway commuting I do combined with some weekend mud-bogging. Still waiting for a rancho stabilizer which my local shop mail ordered. Probably the best thing about the Rancho RS9000 shocks is that Sears gives them a lifetime warranty which includes all parts and labor costs. Will probably be replacing them every 30-40k at that price.
Best $350 that I've spent on this truck so far.
Hellwig sway bars are the next upgrade.
check out www.gorancho.com for more info.
The remote control operates 4 shocks total.
There is also a splitter system (RS9602) which upgrades to seperate front and rear adjustments. I think you are looking for the multi-shock kit (RS9606) which converts two additional shocks to remote control and is required for quad shock applications.
Just curious if anyone knows if or what the part numbers are for a 4x2 X's front end (assuming the rear is the same).
For the price of the RS9000 shocks, you could get Edelbrocks or Bilsteins...any pluses or minues, or is it just "preference"? I have had no experience with any of these three shocks manufacturers.
