Rare X

I never realized how rare of an X that I own. I don't know if that is good or bad.

4x4 XLT Premium 7.3 PSD.

In 2003, only about 15% of X's were XLT Premium. They made less than 30,000 X's in '03, which means only about 4500 were XLT Premiums.

Only 70% were 4x4. Now we are down to 3200 +/-

Only about 55% were PSD. Down to 1800 +/-.

7.3 was only made for 4 months in 2003. 4/11 = 36%

Now down to about 650.

The only reason that I noticed this is that I have been checking the inventory of local Ford dealer. Almost no one has anything other than EB and Ltd. Almost all are 6.0. Most have a DVD player.

If I wanted an XLT (which I do because I like cloth) I would have to order it in.

Re: Rare X

I was specifically looking for a XLT premium when I bought my X because I do not like the added trim package that comes with the EB and the limited. My X is kind of different because I have everything the other EB & limited models have except the dual climate control and the funky trim package around the fenders. My front end is all chrome with no colors unlike the the upper models which makes me very happy.I do like my leather and the kids do like the DVD. By looking at the numbers you posted , you certainly have a rare breed.

No kids. I have a laptop with a DVD player and a 15" screen. We use it when we travel. No reason at all to give Ford $1500.

Lots of people like the leather. My X rarely comes out of the barn except in summer. Leather gets hot and sticky. Plus, no kid goo to clean up, so cloth is viable for us.

Mine sits in the garage during the week. I have to make an effort to get it out each week and drive it. I have had since 7-21-03 and have 7500 miles and 20% of those miles are me making that effort just to get it out and take a drive. Wife likes driving her car around town because there is no do's & don't with that like I have on the X.

Bought mine November 2002. Has less than 1600 miles on it. 150 where getting it home from the dealer (OK/TX border town - it was the only 7.3 XLT that I could find). Also a 300 miles trip to E. Texas and a 200 mi trip to Whacko (aka Waco).

Finally got to tow the trailer a month ago. A couple of local car shows. Took the '48 Dodge (see avatar).

2003 Order Guide recommended retail mix. Not sure if it is correct, but it what Ford predicted. Could be off 5%-10%, but still a reasonable assumption.

Re: Rare X

Ah, the do and don'ts, part of the reason my marriage failed. They just don't get it...wait to sart, don't touch the gas until you see oil preasure, don't stomp on it until it is warm, let it idle for a few after a hard run, tow or you were on the gas around town. Park far away and walk, don't try and slam it into a spot so you can save a few steps. BE CAREFUL BACKING UP!!! Even with the back up sensors, watch out. She would agrue with me like crazy and i finally said she could not drive it, then I told her to leave.

Sounds like arguing over the X wasn't the only issue.

It depends on what they did to the '05s.

No word from Ford if the interior upgrades from the '05 SD will make it into the '05 X.

Ditto the chassis upgrades.

The new grill is nice enough, but that alone won't get me to trade.
