Rear block question for those with DR Edge 4.5" lifts.
I just installed a 4.5" DR Edge spring hanger lift with a 6" rear block (replaced the stock 2.25" block) for a lift of 3.75" in the rear. The truck sits just the way I like it about 0.75" higher in the rear.
When looking at the rear blocks from the side they are not perfectly vertical. That is the base of the block is more toward the rear than the top. The blocks are tight and flush against the springs and rear end. I also noticed that the rear leaf springs seem to be angled such that the rear of the spring is higher than the front. This results in the portion of the spring that the block rests on being slanted and thus the block not being straight up and down.
I did not notice this when the truck was stock. To be honest I did not pay any attention to the stock set up and assume it was the same but not noticable due to the much shorter block.
I am wondering if others that have installed the DR 4.5" kit with either the 5" or 6" rear block have noticed the same thing. I think it is fine but it just did not look right when I first noticed it.
I thought that my radius-rods may have been improperly adjusted so I took them off and drove the truck several miles to let the rearend find its natural resting position and it was the same as with the radius-rods.
Any feedback and/or pictures will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rear block question for those with DR Edge 4.5" lifts.
The 6" DR blocks that came in my kit were flat, no taper.
As for the blocks looking like they lean I guess it's to be expected. I looked at a stock '05 X today and the springs sat exactly like mine do.
I have a CV joint driveshaft on order for vibration issues and will probably end up shimming the rearend to get the proper angle at the differential yoke. Also, noticed the '05 X had a CV joint rear driveshaft that looked like original equipment. Wish I had known FMC went to a CV shaft as I would have pushed my dealer for one to solve some vibration problems they could not fix since new. Now that I lifted it its too late to ask.

DR has both..your DR dealer should have gotten ya the angled ones.

Cary,
I called DR and they said they do not do the angled blocks anymore. The 6" block I needed is only available without an angle. They said they had more vibration problems with the angled blocks than without.
When I get my new CV drivesahft I plan to give it a try with the blocks as they are. If I still have a vibration issue I'll shim the rearend to get a 2 degree angle at rest so it will be around zero degrees under load.

Re: Rear block question for those with DR Edge 4.5" lifts.
I figured as long as this thread is active that this would be a good place to ask. All the other threads with similar I have read seem to assume people already understand all these dynamics / factors / terminologies.
So who can give me a brief explanation that when lifting vehicles there is a lot of bandwidth talking about; pinion, yoke, shims, angle, vibrations, CV vs. ???, ordering a new driveshaft (how?), et cetera How do all these relate to one another?
Green,
